Nungesser Pleads With President To Allow Work To Continue

New Orleans-
The federal government is shutting down the dredging that was being done to create protective sand berms in the Gulf of Mexico.
The berms are meant to protect the Louisiana coastline from oil. But the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department has concerns about where the dredging is being done.

Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, who was one of the most vocal advocates of the dredging plan, has sent a letter to President Barack Obama, pleading for the work to continue.

Nungesser said the government has asked crews to move the dredging site two more miles farther off the coastline.
"Once again, our government resource agencies, which are intended to protect us, are now leaving us vulnerable to the destruction of our coastline and marshes by the impending oil," Nungesser wrote to Obama. "Furthermore, with the threat of hurricanes or tropical storms, we are being put at an increased risk for devastation to our area from the intrusion of oil.

Nungesser has asked for the dredging to continue for the next seven days, the amount of time it would take to move the dredging operations two miles and out resume work.

It really does seem that the Feds are doing everything in their power to worsen the effects of this catastrophe.

Indeed it does.  There is a notable lack of any unified, centrally-controlled and coordinated effort on the part of the Feds, with EPA, F&WS, USACE, the Coast Guard, DOI, DOE, DOJ, and FEMA all proceeding in random, unconnected directions.

I am speechless and saddened.  This area is very near to my heart, I grew up in Gulfport.  I cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like to live there now, with this on your doorstep.  The damage done after Katrina was pretty dang bad, I dare say this now qualifies as worse.

0bama and his Marxist envrio-wacko czars are doing this ON PURPOSE!
Their intent is to so damage the public relations nightmares against oil via the destruction it caused in the gulf, they will EASILY usher in cap and trade.
And $7 dollar a gallon gas...
And $700 a month electricity bills...
And $400 a month gas heating bills...
Then the government will step in to save them - after EVERYONE is broke and destitute. Thus destroying the Republic and ushering in  their socialist -> Marxist bloodless revolution.

Between the moronic attitude toward letting the states do the work the Feds won't, and the drilling moratorium causing massive job losses, Obama may well go down as the most worthless president in our history.  So far, he has only done one thing well...make Bush look good.
