Poll: Half say Dems 'too liberal'
Nearly half of Americans describe the Democratic Party as “too liberal†— up 10 percentage points since early 2008 according to a new Gallup poll.
Forty-nine percent of 1,049 adults surveyed said Democrats are too liberal, while 38 percent said the party’s political views are “about right†and 10 percent think it is too conservative.
Views of Democrats have changed since Gallup polled the question in February 2008, when 39 percent said the party was too liberal and 50 percent thought it was “about right.â€
In his analysis of the poll, Gallup’s Jeffrey M. Jones suggested that the increased percentage of those who say Democrats are too liberal “could be a response to the expansion in government spending since President Barack Obama took office, most notably regarding the economic stimulus and health care legislation.â€

2. People are ignorant and polls reflect that.

6. Yep, the majority of people are uninformed.
A radio station did a man on the street segment some months ago. Most people knew who were the winners of American Idol, but only about 45% knew the name of the vice president.
We live in a nation populated by nitwits.
Sean Hannity does a man on the street every Thursday, it's done on the streets of NY, 99.9% of the time the people who are asked questions on the street can't answer the most basic questions and they voted for Obama and Democrats. Do I have to post the Obama voter IQ youtube again?

4. Until liberals change hearts and minds
liberals will be outnumbered.
Pragmatism,...
something radicals are unwilling to accept.

14. Liberals have been changing hearts and minds for decades.
Liberals have brought about many social changes that benefit everyone.
When the others in the Democratic Party realize the true value of liberalism and embrace liberal ideals, the public will join. Simply because the public will see a greater benefit. As the pragmatics/centrists/CONSERVATIVES in the Democratic Party compromise and dilute liberal ideals, the people have a hard time telling the difference between parties or ideologies.
Liberalism isn't the same as Progressive ideology which is what the radicals of the Democratic Party embrace.

23. I don't think that most people know the meaning of "liberal".
It is brandished about as an insult and even many Democratic politicians do not like to identify themselves as liberals.
The DU doesn't even know what the meaning of liberal is.

29. And yet, the vast majority describe themselves as Conservative or Moderate
Edited on Mon Jun-14-10 10:52 AM by WeDidIt
and those who describe themselves as liberal are outnumbered four to one.
Of course that point is being ignored.

14. Liberals have been changing hearts and minds for decades.
And when MOST of those get a job, paying taxes and raising a family, they convert to a conservative voter.
Your decades of changing hearts and minds is an exercise in futility.

36. They think Obama's too liberal, too.
Occasionally, a republican (who knows I voted for Obama) will ask me what I think about him now. My repub father did that just the other day. I told him I had some issues with Obama (I try to hold back a little at how angry I am with Obama around repubs). He thought that I didn't know I was getting SOCIALISM with Obama. I told him, no, Obama is not nearly liberal ENOUGH. He was incredulous.
I knew a family like this once. Wealthy dad, moonbat son. Moonbat DUmmie got written out of the will.
-
This should have the DUmmies worried.
Among independents, the percentage who believe Democrats
are too liberal has jumped from 40 percent to 52 percent.
November will be ugly for the DUmmies.
-
Haha, suck on it DUmmie libbers.

Poll after poll show nothing but bad coming their way, yet they keep pushing more of what people don't want. The whole party is tone-deaf.

Unrelated, but on another thread, Bobbo reveals something about herself: She's referring to some videos of Cesar Chavez.

5. Thank you for making me feel ancient. I was the mother of a toddler at that point.
Because we were dirtyhippiecommiepinkobums and going to lots of rallies and protests, we saw lots of wonderful folk. But never him. I am sooooo glad the videos exist! This one really strikes me.
The dirtyhippie lifestyle seldom works out in the end. Usually, people sober up, clean up, get a haircut, and get a life. And to think she had a toddler during all that. Let's see, who's the guy over there who's on disability, yet was able to help construct a deck for his in-law relatives? Totally dependent on his wife's grandmother? He was the kid of hippies like seen above.

I'd bet her kid is a lousy stinking freeper. That's why she lives in the trunk of a Buick. (I don't know what make she lives in)
