American exceptionalism

It seems that many Americans of all political stripes have this concept of America being, "the greatest country on Earth."

One of the problems with this, is that it's frankly, condescending and a bit insulting to citizens of the other nearly 200 countries in the world. Also, it's so subjective which country is the "best." And I also see a lot of people who've never been to other countries proclaim it to be the "best nation on Earth."

I really think this kind of thinking-that we are somehow special, and that we're better than others-is foolish and dangerous.

Yeah...seeing how every other country has give the world cars, trains, planes, computer technology, television, phones, electrical generation, food, etc.

1. PLays very well with tea baggers and other knuckle dragging types
who think they are special because they were born white in the USA. Even more amazing is they believe they had something to do with being born white and american

No,I am just glad I was born in the USA and was not an idiotic, self hating, bitterly jealous of everything lunatic.

Can you say the same?

New thread but sure to be a hate America festival.

I think the fact that most people in the world would come here if we invited them speaks for itself.

They don't even understand the terms they are using.

What has Europe given the world?  Marxism and all its derivatives to include international socialism, fascism, and national socialism.   They gave the world two world wars that America had to bail them out of and America continued to foot the bill as they experimented in infantilizing their citizens with the cradle to grave welfare state.  Now they are turning their country's over to radical clerics and sharia law.

So, it isn't subjective.  What other country can afford to bail out the rest of the world from their own ineptitude and from the disasters that occur when Nature has a bitchy day?

It may make the citizens, or more often, subjects, of other countries feel bad, but then they have it in their power to recreate their countries to be just as exceptional.

I bet the citizens of other countries don't sit around and bash their patriots.

I bet if the citizens of Mexico saw Calderon come to the U.S. and address congress and bash his own country, they would not only be outraged, they would be rioting in the streets.  And Mexico could use a little bashing.

Europe has given a lot to the world -- amazing scientists for example, now and throughout history.

The United States is the leader of the free world.   Period.    Our military is the most powerful.   Our Navy polices the world's shipping lanes.  etc. etc. etc.

One can bitch, whine, moan and groan about paying too much taxes, and "my personal freedoms are being stripped away."... blah freakin blah, nice try but definite no.

Only in America can one piss all over the country, be a perfect bastard on a daily basis, spit in the direction of our President and on our flag, and go home at night to spew hate on the internet in total freedom.    You (collective you) don't grasp the importance of that, then you haven't learned a damn thing from history.

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

As said before, people that vote with their feet mean much more than some high school dropout that posts at the DUmp.

Exceptional or not, it's MINE, so I back my own horse.  If you're not going to support your own team you need to GTFO.
