Elton John to Perform At Rush's Wedding This Evening..

I wonder if John is aware of Rush's bashing of gays. Jose Lambiet in the Palm Beach Post has details...

Elton is a capitalist pig!

2. John has lived in the US a very long time... Of course he must know
He may be of that mindset that interacting positively with the likes of Rush can change them... I don't agree, but that is one school of thought..

22. Elton John doesn't need the money. He's the last person I thought would sell out.
I lost all respect for him now. Elton used to be for the oppressed, but now he's just another right wing appeaser.

:lmao:

8. Being paid in excess of a Million $ with additional demands...
So, at least Sir Elton is going for Lard Rushbo's deep deep pockets. The Freepers must be crazed over this one...

:bs: it's the left who'll have their panties in a wad, see the next post!

13. So many have their price, principles be damned. Reported as being paid over $ 1 million. I hope
he at least donates it to a charity that Rush hates ......

Quote
Lint Head  (1000+ posts)          Sat Jun-05-10 02:54 PM

17. Anything for MONEY.
Greed rules everything. Principles mean nothing anymore. She is marrying a pig for money and Elton John is prostituting his talent for money. I no longer have respect for Sir Elton. I am a musician and have sacrificed money because I refused to play jobs I was offered by powerful and bigoted people. I could name a name (or two) you would instantly know. It was a big paying gig for me but I will not mention the name because I do not want to give the racist SOB any more exposure than he already has.

21. I would find it hard to believe Elton is doing it just for money.
At this point he has got to have all the money he can possibly need for the rest of his life.

I've got to say that I'm a bit surprised myself. The old fruit is so into conservative America bashing that I'd have figured he'd run away screaming from Rush.

I figured Rush would have the Turtles play at his wedding.

Maybe he's saving them for the baby shower.

Actually knew about Elton John's profiligate spending habits, he'd know that it was about 85% to 90% about the money.

Ha ha. Elton John needs the money!! I noticed Crissy Hines(Pretenders ) took the money and shut up for that song! Maybe it is his new wife that wanted Elton John to sing at the wedding?

I think it's awesome actually, I'm an Elton John fan though, but I admit I'm shocked Elton is doing it. The DU gets their :kumbaya: and they're still angry, we have 2 sides coming together, celebrate! :cheerleader:

I've always been an Elton John fan.

I am surprised at this though....not that Rush would ask him, but that Elton would agree.

I hope this $1M figure is the price of the whole wedding not for Elton.

It's not that surprising.  Liberals that have known Rush Limbaugh socially always comment what an amiable and humurous man he is.  I don't know if that's because they were expecting a grade A jerk, but I think not.  Rush seems to be a generaly likable fellow.

In High School I loved Elton John.  About a year ago or so they had a  special with him on TV singing.. Not anymore. His frickin songs stayed on my mind for days it seemed..... like hearing "its a small small world" from Disneyland... Lets see who knows what I am talking about.??? :fuelfire:

I saw Elton John in concert a couple years ago.  I think there are women that go to concerts just to act crazy regardless of who is actually playing.

That show must have cost a fortune to put on... there were a dozen people on that stage.

I dragged hubby to see Tom Jones, I think there were 5 guys total at the concert, he was shocked how loud the women were screaming.

I bought a single tape answering machine once that would play music while the tape advanced. I was at a friends house the day I got it calling the machine and playing with the remote message retrieval and stuff. I had a bunch of super short silence messages and quicker hang-ups while I played. Then the thing got to the 4th note of the music.....OH HELL NO!!!!!1111111!!

Yep, it was going to play It's a Small World. I flew back home, disconnected the machine, stuffed it back in the box and returned it before I got any on me.

I.Hate.that.song.

Badcat,
That's the best song he ever did and most likely one of the best all time songs ever.

LOL DUmbasses mistake Elton John statement on Morocco concert for statement on Limbaugh wedding gig:

Offical statement from Elton John
I assume that this was posted today on his site, though written earlier, obviously and that it is in reference to his participation in the Limbaugh wedding. I could be wrong, but I don't know what other context it would make sense. Take it for what it is worth, I suppose.

May 28, 2010
A statement from Elton John
Elton issued the following statement today
By the Editor/eltonjohn.com

"I have always believed that music inhabits a world set apart from politics, religious differences or prejudice of any kind.

"Throughout my career I have made a point of playing concerts in challenging places, such as the USSR and Northern Ireland in the 1970s, Israel in the 1990s and very recently Morocco. Every concert was an enjoyable event for us all and, as I found in Morocco just this last Wednesday, it is always a great experience playing to a new audience in a new country, getting a wonderful warm reception, and hearing the 30,000-strong audience singing along to lyrics that are not in their native tongue.

"Music is, and always will be, a universal language, free from boundaries. It can and does inspire unity and builds bridges between people, and I will continue to play concerts anywhere in the world where I can encourage that unity."
Elton John, May 28, 2010

33. Sorry. That doesn't cut it.
Elton John is dealing with someone who would have him locked up in a conservative "ideal world".

Rush is actively and purposefully trying to create a world where gays are marginalized, imprisoned, harassed and discriminated against.

This isn't "just politics". It's personal. And it's AGAINST YOU, Sir John.
