Title: "Celtic Woman" Concert
Post by: Doc on June 03, 2010, 01:10:48 PM
I was "channel surfing" last evening, and since I rarely watch anything on PBS, I almost missed this one.  Our local PBS station was running their now weekly "beg-a-thon", and between the fifteen-minute solicitation segments they were airing a concert by a large Irish musical group called "Celtic Woman"

I was simply transfixed by the talent these folks displayed, and instantly fell in love with the violin soloist that performed.  Large group, both vocalists and orchestra, plus the production was superb, including the engineering and special effects. Best engineering that I have ever seen in an outdoor performance.....Emmy material.

If you are at all into non-contemporary music, and have an opportunity, don't miss these young people, as they are spectacular performers.

Has anyone seen them perform?

Our PBS station has a couple different CW performances they cycle through during their seasonal beg-a-thons.  They're okay.

Great, throw some tap-dancin ri-tards (aka, "Riverdance") a bag of chips, and a bottle of Jamison, and I'm all up in that Irish stuff...

But if you're gonna make me get in touch with my Irish heritage, I'll go for this instead:

The instrumental is nice, but the lyrics are a bit "angry" for me......however, you ane unboubtedly considerably younger that me..... :-)

Isn't there an old saying........."God invented whisky so the Irish wouldn't rule the world".......

I found that show on PBS while I was channel surfing one night.  I had to switch it after two minutes, then punch myself in the balls to make sure they were still there.

Sounds good to me, but you need to switch the Jamisons for Bushmill.

Good Lord! Just the front page of the website makes me want to go out, kill helpless forest animals, drink beer and enjoy the smell of roasting flesh over a fire afterwards.   :lmao:

Thor have you or anyone else ever wondered why sailors wear those strange uniforms??

It is to hide the equipment that wont fit into any other uniform----I believe that is why a sailor swaggers when they walk, too much equipment in too small a place.

The little blonde with the fiddle brings out the dirty old man in me. She's hot.
