The U.S. government has launched a widely expected criminal and civil investigation into BP's massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said on Tuesday, ratcheting up the pressure on the beleaguered British oil company.
Federal agencies, including the FBI, are participating in the probe and "if we find evidence of illegal behavior, we will be forceful in our response," he said, adding that prosecutors had a "sufficient basis" to start a criminal probe.
"As our review expands in the days ahead, we will be meticulous, we will be comprehensive, and we will be aggressive," Attorney General Eric Holder told reporters. "We will not rest until justice is done."

If they went after the terrorist like they are BP ? Fuc#$# Unreal this criminal bunch is... Let BP stop the leak... Almost makes me wonder?
-
This is strictly political maneuvering to boost Lord Zero's ratings. Unless they intend to bring charges against BP or someone for the 11 deaths, this pretty meaningless, since laws already hold BP culpable.
-
They won't prosecute anyone for REAL crimes, but they'll hound people for whatever shit they can make up out of thin air.
November of 2012 can't come fast enough.

How the **** does a lawsuit help stop the oil spilling exactly?? They are no better than ambulance chasers...

He has surrounded himself with lawyers...what were his choices?? :thatsright:

The president said that if laws are insufficient, they'll be changed. He said that if government oversight wasn't tough enough, that will change, too.
BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THIS WILL FIX THE LEAK!!!! :hammer: :censored:

That just sends a chill up my spine!

Brilliant....there's enough dead weight in the justice department to stifle anything.
-
Their going to waste time and resources looking for a crime, yet this same DOJ dropped the case against the Black Panthers for voter intimidation and they had video proof of that.

This POS Administration will not focus on the Fed. employees that were derelict in their duties and the exemption that the Feds gave BP. This was just as big a f. up by the Feds as by BP. The Sect. of the Minerals Agency got thrown underneath the bus but the rest of the clowns that were supposed to do their job will skate free. They should be fired for taking gifts and other perks (bribery) from BP.
-
The government couldn't get a conviction in the Black Panthers' voter intimidation case, so BP shouldn't be worried.
Oh wait...
-
This administration will gladly use the media coverage of a criminal investigation to drag the oil industry's reputation through the mud and make a boogeyman out of them at every turn. I'm not surprised at the civil charges, but what isn't clear is who shares the blame. Holder will try to deflect blame away from his boss, but this administration gave them waivers to bypass safety regulations that existed for a reason.
I support BP and I'll continue to buy their gas. Those moonbats can go jump in a lake.

DUmmies want the death penalty
-
Put BP out of business, that'll stop the leak.
Morons.

Eric Holder met with the Attorney's General of the Gulf states. At least the the ones that aren't from Florida , that happens to be a Republican and running for governor.
