Original message
i have officially lost my mind
reward given for it's safe return...

that said, i've got a problem.

i've been unemployed since last november. the first two weeks were cool. slacked off, caught up on my tv, played lots of WoW. but after that, it got old. i'm still getting my benefits and food share, but the one thing i am not getting is a freakin' job. the field of graphic design is over-saturated in the midwest. the only jobs i see advertised are contract work or part time. i've applied for damn near all of them, and i've gotten squat.

so i've decided to go back to school. i'm going back to school to hopefully become a chef. i am planning on getting a 2-year degree from my local tech school, along with a cert in baking and pastry making. after that, i will hopefully land SOME type of work that will allow me to move and finish up a 4-year bachelors in culinary arts.

now for the problem: my parents. granted i am an adult, but they were cool enough to let me move back in after my job went boom and are helping with my bills. i am expecting one HELL of a fight from them, since i'm overweight, they'll give me the "you're too fat" or "it's a bad idea, all that temptation," types of arguements... plus, before i switched to graphic design, i took a class in basic cooking and failed it.... ok i was young and stupid, now i'm old, and hopefully less stupid.

i'm discussing the issue with two of my friends, who both know my parents and how they'll react, i'm hoping to get some ideas on how to soften the blow.

advice, vibes, or alcohol is appreciated at this point....

If you failed a basic cooking class then you're probably to stupid to be able to walk.  I doubt you got any smarter with age.

Yes, it's anime, but it's not porn. The name comes from this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keroro_Gunsou).

Would it make any difference if he got it for free? And if so, why?

And it's outta here!

16. We have two children to support.
 Nearing college age.

If he is spending money for sex
it would be a deal-breaker for me.

PLUS, he hasn't worked full-time
for over 7 years and I pay ALL the
bills.

Yes, I'd divorce him, no discussion.

It would seem that the flatulent DUmb**** needs to divorce her freeloading "significant other" at the first opportunity.

She's only concerned about the money, because that takes away from her. He ain't sleeping with her so she ain't missing anything that way. Would sleep with one of the Dummies?

Admit it Ballygrl, there's something just so sexy about an unemployed, overweight guy who flunked out of cooking school and lives with his parents so he can collect unemployment and play World of Warcraft all day.

I'm telling you this comment sent me over the edge:

living at home has sort of put me on an unwilling starvation diet, no thanks to my mom and her psychotic desire for me to be one of the skinny, beautiful people. . . . oh well, i figure my mom will StFU when i start bringing home all manner of pastries... right after she takes them away from me. long story...

I'm becoming more and more cynical the more I read over there. Who could blame his parents for being ticked off? and how long are they going to enable him?

It will get to you that way. I use to be the sweetest guy you ever did meet. Now curmudgeon is a better description.

LOL, I was never a regular reader over there so the occasional kook thread I would say is a fluke, not anymore, they're overwhelmed with kooks over there. I can't believe they actually think the American people side with them the majority of the time.

I'm not sure they really are, especially keeping in mind that all we have to go by is this loser's version of the story.  Reading between the lines, it sounds more like they are simply keeping a roof over his head out of pity, and trying to rein in his fatass eating habits.  Most parents can't really bring themselves to just write off a kid who turns out to be unable to make it in the real world, at least short of the kid getting a felony conviction or a combative attitude with the parents.

At the DUFU on FR they used an image of Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons.

Of course that guy actually had a job... heh
