Polls say AZ supports 1070 but the supporters march draws 7k, opponents draw 2 or 3X as many?

Check it out:
snip
Most of Tempe Diablo Stadium's more than 7,000 seats were full Saturday, and hundreds more people milled in the back or sat on the infield lawn. (pro 1070)
snip
Police declined to estimate the size of the crowd, but it appeared at least 10,000 to 20,000 protesters braved 94-degree heat. Organizers had said they expected the demonstration to bring as many as 50,000 people. (anti 1070)

Shot of protesters on the street in Phoenix:
now all y'all know how much i love elizabeth here...
and i do so love a protest.
so when 10,000 to 20,000 illegal aliens show up to protest a law that will send their asses back to their country of birth? (if you can believe those numbers) then i say...
what a missed opportunity to gather up the illegals all in one fell swoop!
arrest them! right now!
what are you waiting for?
maybe next time, eh?

Those protesters also came from out of state to Arizona, and had nothing better to do. I wonder if the usual suspects were behind the organizing of this protest.

firstly - I suspect the polling is only reaching Americans and legal residents.
secondly - the left loves to bus in support form everywhere to make a point.

It's fairly easy to get day laborers and the otherwise unemployed to show up for a demonstration, especially if you throw in some freebies, or in darker times there's a chance of it becoming a riot so they can loot the stores in the area. It's a lot harder to get people with real jobs and families out just to yell a lot, without even a sport to watch. Look at Greece, for example.

Third - leftists love to under-report the footprint of it's opposition, so as to magnify the significance of it's own (rent-a-) mob. In this case, the actual seating capacity for Diablo Stadium - using only the fixed, stadium seating - is 9,785. Not the ~7,000 figure that poor, stupid Beth was parroting from whatever set of talking points which formed the basis for the yahoo news "article".

Why should large groups of supporters march for it? It's a done deal, isn't it?

Yes, thank God. UNLESS Zer0's patsy AG manages to throw a wrench in the works. :fuelfire:

The last I heard was that they are attacking the part that applies to businesses, not the part of asking for identification of suspected illegals. I'm assuming the the DOJ lawyers finally looked at the law and decided that was their best chance with the USSC.

You'd think the DOJ had better things to concentrate on, like prosecuting real criminals. Such as the border crossers, and especially those who bring them over and who employ them. Shame on this Misadministration.

It's all about image.

It's also about redefining who a "real criminal" is. Black Panthers committing voter intimidation: not "Real Criminals". SEALs who are falsely accused of slapping around a terrorist scumbag they just detained: "Real Criminals".

I really don't understand why that is either. The eVerify law has been in effect since 2007 if I recall. We were still living in Arizona when the law was signed. Again, if that's even the part they are talking about.

That's what I am thinking too.

Apparently a bunch of people from California (who are also boycotting Arizona) came to Phoenix to protest the law and wound up spending their hard earned welfare dollars on the Arizona businesses.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Al Sharpton protest tour was in town also.

And they, too, are probably spending their welfare dollar$ in Arizona.
