The suspects face felony criminal mischief charges for destroying the booms, which are worth about $18,000.

Unreal!!!!! Just unreal!!!
How is it unreal?
Left wingers - the President included - have done everything possible to stall, hamper, hinder, obfuscate and obstruct the clean-up effort since the spill hit the news. This is political hay for them, and the bludgeon they're going to use to ramrod Cap & Tax through, as well as a complete moratorium on offshore drilling, probably. They want this as big as they can possibly make it, and to stay in the public eye for as long as they can possibly keep it there, in order to have all the oil-covered animals and birds and shorelines melt as many bleeding hearts as they can get.

I suggested leftwingers, but I think it more likely that it was some idiot kids. They should still face the consequences, including restitution if caught.

I don't know. If the stuff was being staged on shore, on a pier or something, I might agree. The article makes no mention of how far offshore the vandals had to go in order to destroy this equipment however, and what I said in my last post still applies. This smells exactly like something Greenpeace or ELF or any of the other eco-terrorist groups might pull in order to achieve their political aims.

Sounds like something ELF would do. They probably stole the boat, too.
