I didn't understand HOW BAD it's become.
My SO was driving home through eastern Pennsylvania Saturday night. He stopped at a Cracker Barrel for a cup of coffee as he was tired and there was nothing else open where he was.
He was walking around "the gift area". A woman in her seventies tried to peddle some "Support Our Troops" T-shirts while he was there. The price was all right ($5.99). He made the mistake of making small talk with this woman. An otherwise throw-away statement made her defensive and challenged him, "What's the matter? You DON'T support the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq?" He answered that he did support them, that they were victims and deserved our utmost respect and he hoped they'd return very soon. That infuriated her, and then more people started to gather around them as she was shouting and screaming, getting hysterical. She had a fit with the obligatory "This country is being run by a socialist, Nazi, illegal alien and I don't want all that socialism!" Not knowing when to cut his losses, my SO tried to give her some reputable facts. She was then screaming about my SO not being patriotic and by this time, a bunch of men started to circle him. Nothing materialized as he's over 6'3" but it was getting ugly. Kinda like Charlie Daniels' "Uneasy Rider".
He finally got the Emotional IQ and figured he should depart soon, sans the T-shirt. He's still shocked by the whole episode. I knew things were bad, but after his stories, it kind of reminds me of fledgling Nazi Germany where you had pockets of this ultranationalism and some individuals eager to beat up someone to prove how much they "love" "their" country.

12. It's everywhere.
I went to see a pain specialist yesterday for a "meet and greet" first appt. I knew as soon as I walked into the waiting room that he and I were at opposite ends of the political spectrum. How? Well, because the big expensive flat screen TV taking up most of the wall in his waiting room was spewing Faux Snooze propaganda, and most of the patients sitting there looked like they'd just come from a Tea Party. They talked like it, too.
When I finally got through the preliminary meetings with his nurse and PA, who were both very professional, I got to meet the man himself.
First words out of his mouth: I see you have Tricare. You know your going to lose a lot of benefits and most Drs won't accept Tricare when Obama's HCR goes into effect in 2014.
Second sentence was trying to enlist my support for a local republican running for Henry Brown's House seat.
Final sentence was, Bring a driver to your next appointment so I can give you sedation for your spinal nerve block.
I kept my cool, but it wasn't easy. I did tell him he was wrong about TRICARE (according to the Navy and VA), and that I wasn't a republican, and had voted for Obama. I also told him I was a single payer advocate. I'm thinking his head may have exploded right after I walked out of the exam room.
I am having serious reservations about letting this guy touch my back, but not because he's a repuke. He's prepared to do this without seeing the results of my MRI first. That, and he, personally, never asked me ANY questions about my symptoms, history, etc, and did no exam.
I know things have changed since I retired from nursing in '98, but this is ridiculous! I'm going to run a background check on him before I make another appointment. Jeeze!
Awwww how endearing, Significant Other.....other what? I friggin HATE that term.

.....then called my Mommy to tell on him. I seriously called my Mom to "tell on him". LOL

Let me know what's in that shop!
BEG, does your brother post at the DUmp? He must drive you crazy.
I have no idea where these people keep finding all these political doctors. The waiting area at mine is pretty much what you'd find anywhere. The exam rooms have tacky pictures, posters reminding you about blood pressure, diet, having your annual boob smooshing, and Good Housekeeping magazines from the late 1990's. I've never had a political conversation with my doctor. I have no idea how she votes and I don't care. She's a good doctor, whatever else she is none of my business.

Oh and I forgot to ask you guys, what's a "bouncy" thread?
Where's Frank when ya need 'im!
Somewhere there is a thread that explains this better than I can. basically it is a story, completely fabricated, on how the DUmpster DIvers influence people around them and shoot us conservatives down with their prevailing intelligence and wit. ( snicker )
A DUmpster lie, in other words. DUmmies lie, They lie all the time!
I couldn't find a specific definition (I checked some of frank's old threads). A bouncy is a fictitious story made up to impress the other DUmmies. It reinforces their ridiculous stereotypes about how liberals are superior to everyone else. They usually take place in public areas where there are always approving crowds and applause to be had, where dialogue is remembered word-for-word. Named after DUmmy Bouncy Ball who used to tell wild stories about confronting conservatives and "Rethuglikans".
Here's an example of an older one from October 2008:
Monday's Gas Station Bouncy: I overheard a conversation at the pump... (http://www.conservativecave.com/index.php/topic,14886.0)
And another, this time at a doctor's office (another common location):

How could you leave out the cops jumping out of the bushes?
Oh, yeah. New folks really should poke through the DUmping Ground forum. Great stuff in there. :naughty:

In full riot gear and wielding batons.... :hammer:
Where's Frank when ya need 'im!Good question. Anyone know what happened to Coach?
I bought it up after getting subtle hints that they swung my way.

He was wrong that it would go effect in 2014 -- more like this year when Medicare reimbursement rates (which Tricare is directly tied to) gets cut.
SOOOOOO sport, the Navy and VA are giving y'all misleading information.
It's already happening. My parents have a crappy GP, when they inquired about switching, the practice they wanted to switch to said they are not taking any new patients with Tricare and Medicare.
Good question. Anyone know what happened to Coach?
Getting a little worried. :(

franksolich vanishes for months at a time when real life creeps in. I wouldn't be overly concerned, as he is probably fine, but occupied with other matters.I know how that can get. :(
Several have answered, but they left out the source.
There was a DUmmie named "Bouncy Ball" around 2005 that used to post her "I encountered a freeper" threads virtually all the time. They consisted of some conservative making a statement and her completely overwhelming them with evidence otherwise to the point where they either (a) convetered to liberalism, or (b) went into a rage. The stories were such obvious lies that "Bouncy Ball" gained a reputation for them, we started calling her posts 'bouncys," and later on we started calling all threads of obvious "freeper encounter" lies as "bouncys."
.
Thanks for the background on the story.Funny thing is that some of the primitives have begun calling them bouncies as well. :lmao:
