Brand new campfire. We'll see how it burns but could torch the forest.

My coughing had gotten so bad…

That I had to leave our wedding bed to sleep on the couch. Laurie works hard, long hours and deserves her sleep. I have noticed that since I have left the bedroom for the living room, she has been able to sleep much better.

You see when I cannot sleep I read and since I usually cannot sleep for more than a few hours at a time, I get a lot of reading in, especially at night.
She always says that the light doesn’t bother her, but I see how much more rested see seems to be now that I’m not in there coughing and reading till the wee hours of the night.

Out here in the living room, we have a whole wall of floor to ceiling windows. We have a peaked roof that reaches up pretty high. We live on top of a little incline, a ridge really, where Lake Erie use to lap against back when the Great Lakes were full to the brim.

Wow, what a nice guy to not read all night with the light on while his wife is trying to sleep.    He should get extra special recognition for that.   For real.

I thought marriage was an outdated dogma from an imperialist patriarchal society and should be shunned for the progressive advancement of society.

Unless it is between two rug munchers, or two pole smokers, that is.

Sounds like a very nice house he's rented. He'd better hope Lake Erie doesn't fill back up though.

I suppose it depends which special interest group you ask... the rabid left-wing feminists or the rabid left-wing queers.

I dunno.....

Why are we making fun of this one?

I don't know all the DUmmies like some do, but looking at his blog, looks like he has a serious lung disease, and is trying to cope with it.  What am I missing?  I am sure there must be something else to this that I am unaware of.

Not all that are brought over are for humor. Some are for pointing out their bad luck. This one illustrates his being forced to sleep on the couch because of a illness.

Now the real question is, is there a DUmmy that doesn't have some sort of physical or mental illness? Their problems have such an amusing effect on their daily existence.

Ah.  Ok.  Thanks for the clarification.  I didn't see the funny in it, because both my Mom (COPD) and Dad (Lung Cancer) were banished from their beds, for coughing as well.  Guess I just took it a little too personally.

Oh yeah, and they are/were Conservatives.

And if they weren't, I'm sure you would be banned. :evillaugh:

Not serious enough apparently.

I scoured the DUmmy's blog and lo and behold what do I find:
Quote
So how did I get myself into this situation, contracting a disease that was easy to get rid of at the onset but was instead left to fester for literally decades?

It was not easy. First, let me say that I have always had upper respiratory troubles. (SIC) Asthma.

Oh lookie: There be DUmmyism in the family genealogy:

Quote
Back in the mid-sixties when I was just starting on my annual cycle of lung sickness, my folks were going through a very nasty divorce.

My dad had quit, or was fired, we will never really know for sure, from a great job out at the Chevy Transmission plant here in Cleveland. He was a tool and die maker who was never what you would call employee material.

OK, DUmmy dad, ****ING CHRONIC LUNG DISEASE INCLUDING ASTHMA so what is the next logical course in the fine-tuned, intricate inner workings of a DUmmy's brain?

START SMOKING CIGARETTES AND MARIJUANA AT THE AGE OF FIFTEEN YEARS!

Quote
But I started smoking when I was in ninth grade and the cough morphed into a smoker’s cough. The cough was now a part of my life. I went on with this infection in my lungs festering for years.

By the time I went to Ohio State in the late 70’s, I had added drinking and smoking pot to my list of things I shouldn’t have been doing because I had a chronic cough.

Cry me a river you ****ing DUmmy DUmbshit!
Do you know how many people die every year from lung cancer or other respiratory illness problems whom have NEVER smoked anything?
Andy Kaufman and Christopher Reeve's wife Dana Reeve being two of them.

"One toke over the line, DUmmy"...suck on that!
