More DU "tolerance" on parade. The guy holds a moral position at odds with their own, so they celebrate him being "fired', I guess, for lack of a better term.
Funny, but even though I think homosexuality is vile and immoral, I don't feel someone should lose their job over it as long as it's not negatively impacting their performance of that job.
I guess I'm more "tolerant" than the so-called "progressives".

Self-Proclaimed ‘Homophobe’ Out of Energy Dept. Gulf Spill Team
Yes - as it should be.
http://outqnews.wordpress.com/2010/05/17/self-proclaime... /
According to a Department of Energy spokesperson, Jonathan I. Katz is no longer a member of the scientific team tasked with finding solutions to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The team was put together by U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu.
Stephanie Mueller told OutQ News: “Dr. Chu has spoken with dozens of scientists and engineers as part of his work to help find solutions to stop the oil spill. Some of Professor Katz’s controversial writings have become a distraction from the critical work of addressing the oil spill. Professor Katz will no longer be involved in the Department’s efforts.â€
Katz is a self-proclaimed homophobe, and author of several controversial blog posts, including “In Defense of Homophobia,†“Don’t Become a Scientist,†and “Why Terrorism is Important.â€

I'd like to know just how his writings were a "distraction" and who they were distracting to. I doubt he was running up and down the halls ranting about queers while people were brainstorming on how to plug the leak.

6. I am glad we are seeing that people are being held
accountable and are being held to a level of professionalism. He added no value with his attitude.
Accountable for what, their personal moral beliefs? What did this "attitude" have to do with his value as part of the team?

11. What a dick
Here's one of his posts:

Hard to believe a bright astrophysicist would ever write bullshit like this. Disapproval of homosexuality is going to decrease it and lessen its harm? Homosexuality is a curse?
At least he's all about being a peaceful homophobe. What a weirdo.
Peaceful doesn't cut it. You must fall in lockstep with the Leftist orthodoxy or face banishment.

Then why did you vote for Obama?

Let's do an ideological purge. Screw the fact that this guy may have been the one to come up with the idea to stop the leak.

Because, you know, having politically-correct opinions about homos is SOOOO much more important than actual technical expertise or results...
:thatsright:
