Post by: jinxmchue on May 17, 2010, 09:26:27 AM
If anyone heard about this, he was the husband of one of my high school classmates.  I didn't know her all that well, but still...   :bawl:

A worker injured in an explosion while working on a pipe at the CEMEX plant has died of his injuries.

Police said Franklin Dewayne Lasley, 35, was using a welding torch on a steel pipe when something caused the pipe to violently shred into multiple pieces.

Lasley was taken to UT Medical Center but died of his injuries there.

Police said the incident is still under investigation. The report of the explosion came in around 8:30 Friday morning.

He had two small children, too, I guess.  How awful.

I heard about it on Friday....but at the time, I heard it, the news did not announce that he had died.

I'm so sorry, Jinx..... :(

I looked to see if the paper has had an obituary, and so far, it hasn't.
