Title: Leftist post and my response
Post by: The Village Idiot on May 16, 2010, 05:39:47 PM
This post belongs to a candidate for local office in the Pacific Northwest I gather, he is an FB "friend".

A liberal posts:

Jeff,

We all need to make our daily decisions while considering the affect of these decisions on the future– beyond even our own short lives. This is the obligation we must pay back for the gift of life that we have been given.

Land, air, water cannot be owned– as temporary “renters” we must follow the rules of nature and return the land to a better, more sustainable shape than we found it- sor the sake of future generations.

Your comments regarding ownership, business and conservative “leadership” reflect a very short-sighted, money-first attitude– an attidtude that is breaking the back of our counrty and the world- leading to greed in almost all sectors ; Oil, Finance, Health; the environment.

I appreciate your eagerness to become a public servant– but it sounds like you are more motivated by selfish ideals of power, party and greed. My vote will go elsewhere– but thanks for trying !
Mark T.

The candidate asks "Mark, may I also presume that you consider the Constitution as outmoded, or an expired contract?"

My response:

Mark. Do you know anything about history? There is nothing as greedy, as dangerous to lives and liberty or as destructive as big government. This has been true all through history and can not be refuted with facts.

There is nothing as polluting as government, go and visit the abandoned cities of eastern Europe that are toxic from the days of communism. Government that is accountable to no-one has no reason to clean up after itself.

Do you believe that government should ration healthcare to those favored by whatever regime happens to be in charge at the moment? Let the old have a pill instead of a new hip? Abort the autistic to save money? How about a system that creates more healthcare instead of one that loots and cravenly distributes the spoils?

Where would you be without oil? Or do you believe that oil owned by the government is magically cleaner? Again, that would be a stupid myth with no basis in real life. Government oil companies are notoriously more wasteful and inefficient than private companies.

Business make money by giving value for value. Government has no such qualms of simply taking what they want without caring whether it makes economic sense or about what you might want or need.

You live in a fantasy world Mark
