NBC confirmed Friday that it had canceled the original “Law & Order,†bringing an end to a 20-year-old television drama that jump-started an era of television production in New York City.
“Law & Order†was on the verge of becoming the longest-running drama in prime-time television history, surpassing “Gunsmoke.†But it appears that the “Law & Order†executive producer, Dick Wolf, has settled for a tie. The final episode of the series will be shown on May 24, NBC confirmed in a news release Friday.
NBC said Friday that it had ordered a new series, “Law & Order: Los Angeles,†or “LOLA†for short. It also renewed “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit†for another season. The network plans to officially announce its 2010-11 schedule on Monday in New York.

:overreaction:
Actually, I haven't seen any of them. Might be interesting to see what it gets replaced with, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, I watch L & O: Special Victims Unit...I like the show..and I heart Chris Meloni

The only time I used to watch Law & Order is when Jill Hennessy was on.

Angie Harmon... :naughty:
correct me if I'm wrong but I've heard that David Hasselhoff "discovered" Angie Harmon while on a plane flight together and put her in Baywatch Nights. What a discovery!
And it doesn't hurt that she's a pro-life conservative.

:thatsright:
They are now in talks for a "Law & Order: Los Angeles"
ugh

I kinda hate to see this one go.......I know Dick Wolfe is a big lib, and many of the shows have liberal political themes, but it's set in NYC, which is a liberal place. I always thought the shows were well written, and the characters interesting.......we've probably seen all of them in syndication on cable, and the sequels as well.......didn't realize that it had been running for 20 years though.......

and thats why all of the crimes in NYC are committed by aryan nations punks, or Republican, or Christian or business people and other rightwingers.
So realistic!

I've never seen an episode so I guess I won't be missing it. :p

I guess you missed the episodes where:
The DA took on the gun industry.....and lost
Took on the drug industry......and lost.
Sent the AIDS infested fag to jail for life, for endangering the population
Prosecuted the "Planned Parenthood" clinic for underage abortions
As I mentioned above, the producer is a lib, and NYC is a very liberal place.......I find the episodes more a condemnation of the "liberal" administration of justice there, than anything else.......and it fairly accurately represents the manner in which the justice system there works.......poorly......
Murderers plea bargained down to manslaughter, sentenced to five years, etc........where I live, they would get life at a minimum.
I never said that the show didn't have liberal political messages......I just find it entertaining........and fairly realistic based on my years of living there. It's entertainment......
I guess that the difference between you and me is that I actually have a life that isn't entirely driven by a political ideology. Further, that is what the channel selector is for, if you don't like it for whatever reason, go back to American Idol.......perhaps that's more your speed.......

Most of their storylines are ripped from the headlines
They had a "ripped from the headlines" marathon a few weeks ago.
