I'm a Black Belt. My test was Friday morning. A few pics:

Yeah, they kicked my ass a bit.

They did a number on you. Your face looks so puffy and swollen and...oh wait.
Anyway, congrats.
The drubbing I took had my right ear bruised so heavily it was black for a week and I couldn't sleep on that side of my head. I was literally seeing red by the end of the encounter and I swear I saw lights flashing every time he hit me.

That's WHY I prefer Judo. The injuries aren't as visible. They typically hurt like hell and normally affect the joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles, but no visible bruising (usually).

You seemed rather hesitant in the run-up.
Was it:
A) as bad as you imagined
B) not as bad
C) might have been bad but didn't have time to think about it
D) "What were we talking about and why is that cabbage staring at me?"

B although, the ride to the test, 2 hrs, was much much worse, ragged on by the five black belts in the car the whole way

I started five years ago last Wednesday. Five years ago Sunday, was the first time I sparred and I took a right to the face that cut my forehead open above my eye, just like in a Rocky movie.

Congratuations on getting your black belt. Right now my face looks like Rocky's at the end of the first movie and all I did was have a tooth pulled.
I went to the dentist today too. She gave me a shot, started drilling and I could feel it so she gave me another shot. She tilted the chair so much that my head was lower than the rest of my body. When she was done my whole upper left side of my face was complely numb. Even my lower lid was numb and droopy. I looked like I had had a stroke.

Way to go!!! My son is planning on getting his black belt. Yikes. I think I will stay home that day. :-)

Besides building confidence, consentration, and mental strength, this is a great tool for kids that have anger issues.
