Is capitalism dying?
Edited on Mon May-10-10 10:34 AM by kentuck
We hear this morning that the European Union and the IMF are putting in a trillion dollars to bail out Greece and to prop up Spain and Portugal. This follows the huge bailout of the banks in America. But these are countries, not banks.
How much sacrifice will the common people have to make to assure that this system survives? How much more proof do we need that it is indeed in dire straits? Can it be revived with all this money?
Or is capitalism simply following the same footsteps of its competitor, communism, which fell in the late 1980's and early 1990's? If the IMF had put the same amount of money into the communist system, the USSR might still be around today?
But who suffers when the capitalist system fails? Just ask the Greek people. They may have had social programs that they could not afford, but it was the capitalist system that made it possible. Now the people are paying the price, not the big banks. They all have a sugar daddy.
I just don't know what to say. :banghead:

It is the social programs that have caused all of the problems for Greece, yet this DUmmie thinks that capitalism is to blame. :mental:
-
They may have had social programs that they could not afford, but it was the capitalist system that made it possible.
Ergo if you get rid of capitalist then social programs would no longer be affordable and hence non-existent.
So the death of capitalism is really the death of socialism?
Am I reading this right?

Good Lord what an idiotic thing and the person actually believes it.
I didn`t look but has anyone there mentioned the irony of such a foolish statement?

The warped primitive is truly stupid.

2. "Social programs they couldn't afford?"
They could have well afforded them all had they required an honest accounting of wealth held by their own plutocracy plus that plutocracy's contribution in the form of taxes.
Greece is in trouble for the same reason the US is, they tried to give their plutocracy a free ride while borrowing the shortfall.
It didn't help that they were sold a bunch of bad "investments" by hedge funds and brokerages.
What happens when socialism has taken all the wealth and you DUmmies still want more freebies?
-
The 'Kentuck' part pretty much says it all. And Warpy is as stupid and ill-informed as ever, the tax problem in Greece is not the 'plutocrats' (Who really wants a cartoon dog to be in charge, anyway?) but the rampant tax fraud by the entire welfare-public-trough-slurping citizenry. They ALL cheat like sonsabitches on their taxes and then riot when it turns out there isn't enough revenue to pay off on the immense public benefit packages they voted in for themselves...oughta rename the damn' place 'Kalifornios.'

Socialism's failure (again) is all capitalim's fault.
Black is white.
War is peace.
Was Orwell a mystic or what?
-
Government spending and Government debt is not caused by capitalism
-
The same people who want to push socialism also implement anti-business regulations and taxes that soon leads to bankruptcy.

I swear I am sick of their willful ignorance. They know very well why Greece is in the shape it's in, they just don't care that they are doing the very same thing to this country because they all want "theirs". It isn't theirs, it belongs to other people, they don't care. ****ing leeches.

Kentuk and some of the other people over at DU would be advised to read the following articles. This could spill over to the rest of the EU.
The Athens News, Greece's oldest English-language newspaper, was founded in 1952 by Yannis Horn and was published every morning except Mondays.
The readers of the Athens News include Greece's English-speaking and foreign community which rely on the newspaper to keep abreast of domestic and international events. The Athens News is also considered essential reading by Greek politicians, civil servants and businessmen as well as Greeks abroad.
Years of hardship ahead
Even if the plan is fully implemented, it will leave Greece with a substantially higher mountain of debt, climbing from 133 percent of GDP this year to almost 150 percent of GDP in 2013 - with a significantly smaller economy to pay it off.

More debt is not the answer.
They must cut the budget/entitlements.
UK unions are threatening now. I posted an article on that.

Socialism, the gift that keeps on taking.

Our contribution to the IMF is 20%. So 20% of the money that Greece receives goes down a rat hole cause we will never get it back. Obama wants to do more so that we can be just like Greece with the majority of citizens beholding to government.

Yes - which brings forth the question: What do normal civil-minded people do with leeches?
THEY ****ING SCRAPE THEM FROM THEIR BACKS AND STOMP THEM INTO A BLOOD-SPOT ON THE GROUND!

Socialism, the gift that keeps on taking.
That's excellent tagline material.

Make that 100%. The last thing Greece needed was another $145 Billion in debt

Capitalism is so evil it forced the Greeks to give themselves social programs they couldn't afford.
The kentuck primitive is nothing if not stupid.

Capitalism isn't dying...it's being bled to death by government and the blood suckers.
