I think the #1 thing rich people REALLY DON'T GET
is how completely draining stupid little bills are to the middle and lower classes.
In the last few months I spent 700 getting the front window replaced (after one of the dogs blew it out), 900 on the cars (cracked axle, busted bearings, new brakes, and general tune-up issues), 500 on a new dryer, and tonight my laptop won't work and so I don't have a computer (this after spending 500+ to try to fix the stupid power connection). So far none of the dogs has had to go to the vet this year, but we spent about three thousand last year on vet bills alone (if your dog ever starts vomiting blood, seriously consider pretending you don't notice it).
Thousands of dollars in random bills may not matter to people making 100K, but to people making half of that amount, or a quarter of that amount, this kind of crap can be the difference between being financially stable and losing the house

1. Some people with money do not want the middle class financially stable.
Stable people are not in fear.

2. Rich people are consumed with money issues
But their issues are different than they are for us. They feel the need to spend as much as possible on what they get and do. There's a lot of competition among the rich as to who can spend more lavishly on themselves, their parties and even their charities. Everything has to be expensive and everyone has to know exactly how expensive their acquisitions are. Money is everything to them. Nothing is worse or more shameful than to lose their money because that is what defines them in every moment of their lives.

11. Most Americans really don't have a problem with taxes.
We don't even notice when they are taken out of our paychecks.
We have problems when the cost of groceries and medications and cars and utilities go up. Those are our concerns. Utilities are especially bad.
Today I bought two very special items from a slightly more upscale grocery store. I go there every couple of months for these two items. The upscale store is more expensive than my neighborhood grocery, but the local grocery does not carry these items. The prices had gone up yet again. No specials. No deals. Horrific prices -- for sausages and tea.
Everything is going up. Just watch, and you will notice.

5. What applies to us doesn't apply to rich ****ers.
The rich in this country don't have to worry about degrees, loans, credit scores, credit checks, any of that shit. That shit is put upon us to make it so the average person (like me for instance) cannot get ahead in life. It ****ing sucks but I guess it's a way of life now. Only if we stage a revolution will they be truly worried about the way they conduct business.

6. What they don't get is that the very people they are draining money from
are their customers.
And that the problems resulting from the poverty they cause with their greed is going to bite them on the butt at some point. Gated communities are not protection against angry mobs.

Hey, DUmb****s--boo-****in'-hoo.
My wife and I are middle class. We count our blessings daily. (One of them makes her presence known about once a minute.) Are there money problems? There would be if we spent all of it on pot and Cheetos. (Don't get me wrong here--I like Cheetos every now and then.) There would be if we spent all of it on getting candidates elected that would turn right around and leave us "hoping for change."
Do what we do--deal with it quietly. And move on.

11. Most Americans really don't have a problem with taxes.

Because you don't pay taxes....and then you get a refund that gives you back all you paid into the SS fund plus some.
If you can't afford to take care of a dog....don't have one.....especially having several and one that blows out front windows.
Quit trying live like a millionaire on a paupers salary.

Cry me a river. I had to spend $2000 recently on a rerouting gas pipes because of natural gas leaks in the walls. Did I enjoy that? Hell no. Am I rich. Nope. That's $2000 less I have to anything else. Why is that anyone else's problem?
To the DUpes, it is someone else's problem.
Ok, XemaSab, pony up, you owe me for the cost of fixing that natural gas leak.
Sheesh.

A DUmbass and it's money are soon parted.

I like how they think 100k a year is rich, and that most Americans don't even realize that taxes are taken out of our paychecks. :thatsright:
That is some first class ignorance right there.

I won't say how many years it will take me to earn 100k but I do see every penny taken from me by the govt. :-)

I don't make anywhere near that either, but during the tech bubble I made close to it. I can't tell you how many co-workers who made six figures and had families had to pack their lunch to work every day, because they could not afford to buy lunch in the cafeteria.

The one part you don't see? The 7.0% that your employer pays the government that could be going to you. FICA and medicare tax on your check is doubled.

That's the whole point of withholding ya dumbass. It's so we don't notice.
If everyone had to wait until the end of the year and cut the gubmint a check, there would be a number of scaffolds erected in front of the Capitol Building in short order. Maybe a guillotine or three.

19. It's not that they don't "get it". It's that they DON'T GIVE A SHIT.
You're right in that I don't give a shit about you. I grew up poor. As a teenager I picked tobacco under the Florida sun for $11 a day, which was top dollar in those days. A lot of farmers were only paying $8. Doing a job that you say only illegal aliens will. I was damn glad to have that money. I didn't accuse the farmer of "exploiting" me. He would have probably exploited my ass right on down that rutted dirt road if I had.
At eighteen I got a decent paying job with phosphate mining company, but I resigned after a few months to join the Navy. It wasn't an "economic draft." I enlisted to serve my country and see something of the world besides the north Florida piney woods. For five years I made next to nothing, but I didn't mind or complain about the pay. I was doing something meaningful and making great friends. The first two years I sent half my meager E-2 to E-4 pay to my folks to help them get out of the debt they had accumulated raising me and my younger sister. That would be the same folks I didn't alienate or disown over politics like you DUmmies. They didn't declare bankruptcy or just refuse to pay their debts. Back then when you got something, you expected and were expected by others to pay for it.
For years after I lived paycheck-to-paycheck, some of it because of lower wages, some of it because of my free spending habits, but not once in all that time did I imagine someone else was supposed to give me money simply because they had more of it than I. When I got tired enough of that situation I went back to school (at the start while still working full time) and majored in something chosen not just because I liked it but because I calculated it to actually provide a good income. That income allows me to pursue my favorite interests. I didn't do it the other way around, going to college for my favorite interests and expecting the income to follow that. If you can do that, fine. But expecting or demanding it just indicates stunted emotional or intellectual growth.
Now after 53 years of my life, my wife and I together, all the while saving and sacrificing and helping out our family financially, are finally hitting that 100K mark, and now you want to call us "rich" and demand we cough up some more money for you beyond the amount we already pay in federal taxes, state sales taxes, excise taxes, property taxes, fees, assessments, licenses, and the privilege of having my used oil disposed of in an environmentally sound manner down at the Jiffy Lube.
Well **** YOU, Jack. That's right, **** YOU. I'll say it as a proud capitalist. Get out there and start acting like a responsible, self-directed human being and stop blaming people who have more than you for your plight. Or whatever passes for plight as you sit in your air conditioned house with a full belly, typing on your miracle of science computer and bitching about jackbooted thugs who mysteriously never seem to materialize at your door. Do that, then maybe if you get your face blown off in an unfortunate bong-lighting accident, I might not mind some of my tax dollars being tossed your way. Otherwise, kiss my ass and STFU. No one is listening anyway.
-
The one part you don't see? The 7.0% that your employer pays the government that could be going to you. FICA and medicare tax on your check is doubled.
Odds are that 7% wouldn't go to me anyway since my employer is so cheap. :-)

These people seriously believe that some people having more money than them is what causes poverty??
The stoopid should be painful.

$500 dollars on trying to fix a power connection on a laptop? This DUmmie is beyond stupid. I think the DUmmie was just making things up.
That part caught my eye as well. The DUmmy overpaid for the computer but got off cheap on the axle. 700.00 for a window needs more info.
-
Reading what these fools write makes my head hurt. NOBODY can be this stupid and still be able to live any kind of a normal life. :mental:
-

I can't see how it would cost $700 to replace the glass in a window, unless it was like a double pane insulated picture window or something.
-
It didn't cost that much to replace my storefront window.

The garden window in my kitchen was a grand, but it is 5' X 5'.

Obviously the problem here isn't rich people. It's people living beyond their means. Maybe you should dump the dogs (how frickin' many do you have considering your use of the word "none" instead of "neither?") and the computer.

Well, that was a pity party, wasn't it? Repair bills are 1) a bitch and 2) a fact of life. I had two of the sonsofbitches within the last month, but I didn't blame it on rich people, or even go to CC crying about it. It happened to be a matter of This Old House, not Joe the Plumber or Stan the Mason trying to keep a boot on my neck and extract millions from me.
Where do they get this stuff from, exactly?
-
Liberal elites, DUmbass.
Exactly. The same ones they keep voting into office.

No kidding. I have shoveled out 5 grand in 4 months for my Suburban ($4500 for a "new" 6.5 diesel engine and $500 plus for catastrophic brake failure) and another $300 to replace rotted flooring in my bathroom. I am by no means rich but I do have a pretty good idea how to handle my money and take care of my things so I don't have to do dumb shit like that every month.
I do make a decent living (no college degree, just tons of military tech schools and 22 years experience) and these little mouth breathers would have all of it stolen from me because they don't have a clue how to manage their lives and live within their means?
Yeah, I agree, **** YOU!
I almost wish I was a no load, emotionally stunted liberal that lived beyond my means and expected everyone else to pay for it. If I were, I would be driving a new 2011 Super Duty with all the fixins and demanding someone else pay for it. It's not fair, you see, for me to have to keep a 14 year old truck on the road while so many fat-cat Wall Street bankers are getting bailouts. :whatever:
-
If you don't like being poor, then why don't you simply become rich?
-
The one part you don't see? The 7.0% that your employer pays the government that could be going to you. FICA and medicare tax on your check is doubled.
Those of us who are self-employed get to pay both sides...yes it is my choice to be self-employed.
Collecting unemployment is never an option....still my choice by being self-employed.
Don't bitch to me about paying taxes, either.... my daughter's BIL was on unemployment all last year....he got $6200 BACK from the IRS! :censored:...which is almost how much I owed.
-
Wait until XemaSab sees how much her utilities rise if Cap and Trade goes through, she'll see a double or triple increase.

14 years old! Is that all? I'll go halves with you on the 2011 Super Duty, BTW....
My 1988 F-250 blew a head gasket back in the winter, so I'm looking at doing a "lick and promise" engine rebuild on the 7.3 diesel (basically gaskets, bearings, rings, and head rebuild) sometime this summer. I feel it needs it, it's been totally great for 220,000 miles, and I'll need it to carry firewood this winter....
-

Not just utilities, but everything else. I have no idea what DUmmies think gets goods to the stores, because they advocate $10.00/gal. gas. This tell me they haven't a clue that that $10.00/gal. gas also harvests their organic tofu, soybeans, and alfalfa sprouts, processes them, and moves them to market.... :hammer:
DAmned DUmmies can't see the forest for the trees, but that doesn't matter; they like trees.... :mental:
-
Keep raising taxes on the rich DUmmies. Keep it up and you will most definitely see your prices for goods and services increase. Yeah, O'bama tells you he is going to raise taxes on the rich only but if you think that shit doesn't trickle down you are seriously deluded.

Those of us that understand basic economics and business realize that when you pay a retailer $50.00 for a given product it means that it all goes to...
1)Paying for the retailer to have a staff,utilities,taxes collected,transportation,paying the supplier...etc
2)Paying the supplier for staff, acquisition and inventory of the raw materials, the costs of tooling for production, warrenty loss, liability insurance...etc
3)A profit over and above all that to make it a worthwile return on investment of capital and time for both.
To a DUmmy they just think that $50.00 landed in someones pocket to be hoarded away thus cheating them out of their wants in life.
-
Yes, all the moonbats think that if gas is $10/gallon, everybody will take to their bicycles, and so the air will be fresh and pure, we will all be in excellent health, and skittle-shitting unicorns can be seen for miles.
I'm in food distribution, and when gas hits a certain mark, we have a line item on each invoice, "fuel surcharge." This gets passed from the food seller to the end buyer immediately. To rich and dirt-poor alike, DUmmies. Affects even pot and Cheetos.
-
I used to be in "raw food manufacturing" (aka I ran a dairy farm).
WE had to pay a daily haul charge (usually $3.00) + about $.75/cwt freight to have our product hauled TO MARKET!
That $.75/cwt usually translated into $60-70 every other day. Don't sound like a lot, but when you only get paid $12.50/cwt, it adds up quick.
Out of what's left, we had to pay electric, mortgage, maintenance, fuel, feed, labor, etc.
If we were lucky, we had enough left for a Big Mac and fries for the kids every month or so....
This was all before fuel hit $5.00/gal back in 2008. I work for the USPS now.... :-)

Oh, we could go halfsies on the Super Duty if you don't mind "The Empress" driving it every day. :-) The truck it would replace would be the 02 Avalanche she drives now.
Have you seen the new Super Duty? I've been reading about it for probably 6 months or more in Diesel Power and finally got to test drive one about two weeks ago.
It was unbelievable! :o The new 6.7 engine is a monster! And Ford has put one hell of a transmission behind it! I had never seen, nor heard of, an out of the box, straight from the showroom, just off the damn car carrier heavy duty (stock) diesel truck burn the tires from a dead standstill. But I have now...
As far as I'm concerned, it's Ford or nothing from now on.
I do love my Suburban, though. Lots of children to tote around, decent fuel mileage, never lost power or punch even with the #7 cylinder cracked and leaking antifreeze. I'll give GM this much, that 6.5 is a good damn setup. Too bad they let Obama take them over, they could have kept a loyal customer that wants to replace some of his aging fleet.

I've seen some of the early numbers for the 6.7 Ford Power Stroke: codename "Scorpion", this thing puts out 390 hp and 735 lb-ft of torque! This thing is MADE to TOW!
Alas, I'll have to keep my '88 7.3 diesel a little longer. The Hypermax kit turned a good engine into a great one, it tows and hauls everything I put behind it or on it with no complaints....

Let me tell you firsthand that reading the numbers (which I also did) is nothing compared to how it feels when you lay into the throttle. :o
Just one minor correction: The new 6.7 is not a Powerstroke. Ford took their engine manufacturing away from International and brought it back in house. HUGE difference in sound and power output. The design guys really nailed it with this engine and transmission setup and the single shaft turbo guarantees you have no lag whatsoever.
Do you read Diesel Power Magazine?

I've read a few issues, not many, but I subscribe to 4-Wheel & Off-Road and to Offroad mags. They sometimes do articles on diesels, but I remember the one in Diesel Power about how someone built a 5.9 Cummins to put out over 1,000 hp. Those are Super Stock pulling tractor numbers!
According to what I've read and this link, Ford still calls their diesel engine Power Stroke....
http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/superduty/?space=Trucks
Ford kept the Power Stroke moniker when they broke from International. International engines are now known as MaxxForce....
