I don't have the video but I got a link off a blog to the CBC feedback and response about it.

The car is a 1997 BMW that was salvaged for $500.
"BMWs have a certain cachet of new wealth and privilege in Canada"
"Can you imagine what the Canadian Taxpayers Federation would say if an opposition party or non-governmental organization used a BMW in their photo op?"
Well if it were not funded by taxpayers, likely they wouldn't care.
