Why didn't Obama stop the oil spill? Updated at 2:01 AM
And why did he wait so long to act?
Those seem to be the questions a lot of the folks on the right are asking - such as Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh, very loud, right-wing radio propagandists extraordinaire.
I monitor these guys from time to time and I wonder why it took them 8 days to blame it all on Barack Obama? They must have been busy either playing the mainstream Republican game of backdoor politics or they were criticizing Obama for something else? What would they have him do? And why haven't they suggested it before now? This is very possibly an environmental disaster and it surprised us all when it happened. Who, in the media, thought or said something like this was likely to happen? Surely not those that were cheer-leading to "Drill, Baby, Drill".
I think they need to bring in the military, coast guard, and whomever else they can get to help and map the most valuable wildlife preserves, fisheries and shrimp beds, and historic areas along the coast. The oil spill is approaching fast. In my opinion, they should burn the oil that is approaching these special areas. Much, or most, of the oil will escape burning. But they may save these most beautiful and important lowlands? Just my suggestion.

Last night Anthony Weiner nailed it when he said the one thing that holds all these shitstains together is their hatred of President Obama. It creates massive hypocrisies, but it's also very, very predictable. Now had this happened under boooshie, we'd get the denial, then how the "librul media" is getting its knickers in a twitter and how great the response is. But with this President, everything he does is wrong and there's no extend the hate spewers will go to do a 180 backflip in their "criticism". Unfortunately the corporate media loves to echo these asshats...some to ridicule, others to spread the lies...and this distorts their real impact on what a majority is thinking but it drives the "conventional wisdom".
Honestly, I have no idea how you deal with this crisis other than to throw in whatever resources you can where needed. I have been to the lower Mississippi area and seen a lot of restoration work by biologists and conservation groups who have a very good handle on the ecology and the impact. I hope they can find a way to cap the wellhead ASAP. I have faith in this President to think on his feet. Of course the corporate media will second guess and the hate spewers will shriek their usual pablum, but it's the results that matter and I see a far more competant man in charge than we had under the rushpublicans.

One would think as the Messiah of the world, Obama should have just stopped this oil spill.
My husband had an idea - maybe we should turn this situation into Obama's 9/11 and become oil truthers. Maybe Obama did this because he hates white people. If this were Bush, you know the DUmmies would be saying that Bush arranged this explosion because he hates black people. Oh wait, I'm getting two different Bush era (and caused by Bush) disasters confused, aren't I?

You know, listening to Rush yesterday when he was talking about Obama's slow reaction to the oil spill, I began to understand how the truthers could believe in MIHOP/LIHOP. That would have been the liberal response to 9/11.
