oklahoma abortion law protects doctors from malpractice suits IF THEY LIE TO PATIENTS
Edited on Tue Apr-27-10 08:17 PM by spanone
The Oklahoma Legislature voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to override vetoes of two highly restrictive abortion measures, one making it a law that women undergo an ultrasound and listen to a detailed description of the fetus before having an abortion.
Though other states have passed similar measures forcing women to have ultrasounds, Oklahoma’s law goes further, requiring a doctor or technician to set up the monitor where the woman can see it and describe the heart, limbs and organs of the fetus. No exceptions are made for rape and incest victims.
The second measure passed into law Tuesday protects doctors from malpractice suits if they decide not to inform the parents of a unborn baby that the fetus has birth defects. The intent of the bill is to prevent parents from later suing doctors who withhold information to try to influence them against having an abortion. [emphasis OP]
Gov. Brad Henry, a Democrat, vetoed both bills last week. The ultrasound law, he said, was flawed because it did not exempt rape and incest victims and was an unconstitutional intrusion into a woman’s privacy. He painted the other measure as immoral.
“It is unconscionable to grant a physician legal protection to mislead or misinform pregnant women in an effort to impose his or her personal beliefs on a patient,†Mr. Henry said.

1. The second is the most horrible thing I've ever heard of... to allow a doctor to NOT inform
parents of fetal birth defects! Can any human get any lower than that?
You tell me, Dr. Mengele.

12. Good Gawd...
Aren't these the same people screaming about the government getting between them and their doctor? Flippin hypocrites!
What part of abortion is legal in the U.S. don't they get?
I hope this gets overturned. It can't be legal. And they know it's wrong if they have to put a provision in that "protects" the doctors.
Yes, because the only good government is that which kills the genetically defective.
I'm looking at you, Trig Palin! (but fags are still safe)

14. Well, it is the state where not ONE county voted for Obama.
TX is liberal compared to that.
Ah yes. The ol' racists-also-oppose-eugenics angle.

Just wait until it hits the news that some couple had their kid scanned for gentic defects and the so-called "gay gene" popped-up and they want to abort the kid over that.
Or a woman had a bi-racial affair and decided she didn't want a mixed-race child lest her husband find out.
I know its gonna happen, I'm just counting the days.
They can barely drown out the screaming inconsistency of sex-selective abortions which disproportionally victimize females over males.

That "gay gene" screening would be outlawed if it were ever developed.

To read the Little Goons' wailing and gnashing of teeth you'd think abortion was outlawed in Oklahoma. It's just an ultra-sound. It' Truth In Advertising at it's finest.
And...if you are there getting this ultrasound as a condition to getting your baby murdered, is it really all that awful that some possible birth defect is not mentioned? The child is gonna be dead anyway. The birth defect notification thing would only be important to fence-sitters, and if that's the case they can go elsewhere for the express purpose of having an ultrasound to determine possible birth defects. The pre-murder ultrasound is not their only option.
Idiots.

Knowing what we now know, that makes Oklahoma the most intelligent state in the union. They got it right and now doesn't have to have regrets like 90% of the folks who actually did vote for that phony gust of wind.
God blessed Oklahoma with a lot of things. Good honest sensible citizens was one of them.

Sometimes you have to get a vaginal ultrasound where they have to stick what looks like a microphone up your love tunnel. Not all that painful but not the best time I have ever had in life.

Was Perry Como singing into the microphone?

You obviously didn't get the ribbed model.
Next time, ask your physician.
*cue commercial music*

It was strange though. I heard this boochickawoowoooow music and there were huge lights shinging on the glory land and some guy yelling "action". I thought it was weird but then again I had never had one before or since so it was probably normal.

There are websites for that I am sure... along with wine bottles and even entire midgets being pushed up there.

They're already doing something similar. Look at the flack they gave Palin after she decided to have a kid that wasn't their idea of perfection!!!
****in' assholes!

Way more info than I needed to know, mama! Heh, heh!
I remember the days when the alphabet networks got flack for Tampax commercials! I'd have been just fine leaving it that way! South Park would've never seen the light of day at the frikkin' Drive In movie!
Hell, nowadays you can buy a hard-on over the tele! We have bailed out over the cliff in my op!

I dunno - as much as I abhor abortion, I am thinking that if a test was created to prove a unborn would turn out to be a DUmmy, I would definitely support the mother aborting that freak.
For the betterment of mankind if nothing else.
