First, there was Boobquake--the wearing of tight and provocative clothes by women to dispel the insipid ramblings of an Iranian cleric that promiscuous women cause earthquakes--now there is "Everybody Draw Mohammad Day."
The deuce you say?
Via Dan Savage's blog at The Stranger, some clever chappie (I don't know who) has declared May 20, 2010 "Everybody Draw Mohammad Day," in support of Matt Stone and Trey Parker and in opposition to religious thuggery. Why May 20? I haven't a clue, though it could have something to do with Otto ascending the throne of Greece. Or, more likely, King Sancho IV of Castile's founding of the Study of General Schools of Alcalá.
I will be employing my tremendous skill as an illustrator, of course, and expect that my colleagues will do the same. If they refuse, they will be declared weak-kneed, namby-pamby, quisling infidels and will be shamed on this blog (Though such idle threats rarely work these days; perhaps I could threaten them with a painful death, which seems to do the trick). If readers would like to show their solidarity, please email your Mohammad masterpieces to me here: mmoynihan at reason.com. The best ones will be published on Hit & Run, which, along with the concomitant death threat, is reward enough.

I am fascinated that while 1 president flailed mightily to present Islam as a religion of peace and another president bows and endorses the genocide of Israel to curry favor with Islam the people themselves have thrown away these gestures and are in open rebellion against Islam.
Yes, rebellion, because that is what you have when you resist that which has held power over you. MAJ Shitbag Hasan can wrap himself in the mantle of PC tolerance as a cloak of invisibility until he goes on a jihadist killing spree (and the idiots in government won;t call it jihadist) but Franklin Graham gets booted off the invitee list for noting the fact Islam oppresses women (but Allah help you if you are so un-PC as to suggest women have no business being in combat while within earshot of a Pentagon shithead).
Islam dictates what we can say, how we can say and when and to whom. It would tell us how to dress, what to draw and how we should treat our wimmenz. It was not elected. It does not have our consent.

Remember, they may have standards beyond confronting Islamic intolerance but if your submission is within their usual publication standards, theme notwithstanding you never know.

Pakistan court blocks Facebook over Mohammed page

LAHORE, Pakistan — A Pakistani court Wednesday ordered authorities to block Facebook temporarily over a competition encouraging users to post caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed on the social networking site.
The depiction of any prophet is strictly prohibited in Islam as blasphemous and Muslims across the world staged angry protests over the publication of satirical cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in European newspapers in 2006.
Controversy erupted in the conservative Muslim country last month when a Facebook user set up a page called "Draw Mohammed Day", inviting people to send in their caricatures of the Muslim prophet on May 20.
The move angered thousands of young people and Muslim faithful in Pakistan, unleashing an online campaign and isolated protests that grabbed the government's attention and the controversial page was blocked on Tuesday.
But a group of Islamic lawyers went a step further Wednesday and petitioned the court to order a blanket ban on Facebook in Pakistan.
Justice Ejaz Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court directed the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) to block Facebook until May 31, when the court will open a detailed hearing into the case.

One of the most frustrating things that comes with being one of Eastern Iowa's top 500 political satire bloggers is dealing with readers who presume to know where I stand on the issues. Worse yet, some even think they can dictate the content of my posts. Like this recent disturbing email from a reader from Crown Point, IN:
