How do you avoid this?????

For six days my emotions are up, down, and all around.

Then, I get in my therapy session and the therapist at some point will say, "How did you feel remembering that?" or some such thing. And my reaction is, I don't know. Then she say's how do you feel now? and I say I don't feel anything.

I KNOW that she is trying to get at my feelings, and I know that I am trying to approach this in a rational theoretic manner. As soon as I get in her office, I've got no feelings at all.

1. I've no idea. Really, I don't.

My life's always a mess because I can't figure out what I'm supposed to be figuring out, I mean , come on now, anyone can see that.

4. I sort of know that feeling but I find I can actually deal with other people's problems better than my own.

Too bad my problem isn't multiple personalities. I could DIY.

3. Yes, I've done that...

I think it's the first time she didn't come back with "How does that make you feel".

How did you feel when you read your words in my reply?

I think what your therapist is asking is "how do you feel about these swings?".

For instance, if I was having all these swings I might feel guilty for putting my girlfriend and family through so much "walking on eggshells". Remembering these swings might make me feel sad or out of control or unable to effectively decide the course of my life. Thats me.

Another person might not mind the swings so much and might feel excitement (or some other emotion) at remembering the week of swings.

Don't know if it helps at all.. just my two cents..

7. Thanks. maybe it's semantics

My immediate response was that it makes me think I've got something wrong with me. That seems more like a comment on my circumstance than it seems like an emotion. But. if thinking I'm forever over-reacting, i.e. out of control, is an emotion I can report that.

5. Imho, you don't avoid it, you respect it.

And to think, the primitives assume themselves sane enough to have some say in how this country is run.

Talk about mental illness.

It wants someone to give it the correct answer so it can stay in therapy, continue its 'mental illness' and therefore not accept responsiblity for shit. "It's not my fault, I'm sick."  :bawl:

A rational person might tell you that it sounds like the therapy is a total waste of money and you might try just living instead, but then you're probably not paying for it out of your own pocket anyway since you are a DUer.

At least try this, my little DUmmie:  When you get on the emotional rollercoaster, just imagine you are in your therapist's office explaining how you feel about whatever hurt your stupid little feelings this time.  Problem solved.

I realize that Beth is the DUmbest person on all the internets, and she's currently whacked out on some sedating drugs from her shrink appointment a couple of months ago, but I cannot decipher any meaning whatsoever from her comment. Usually, you can at least get some clue of what ill-conceived notion is trying to peek through her foggy consciousness, but this time her pea brain seems to have completely shorted out.

I always assumed that having emotions that go up and down was part of being alive  :p  Maybe I'm actually just mentally ill  :whatever:

Therapists are for people that don't have good friends.
