Title: NHL Playoffs
Post by: Odin's Hand on April 16, 2010, 04:04:19 PM
Don't really have a dog in the fight this year, so I'm for whatever team is playing Pittsburgh.

Go Blackhawks, I guess.  I don't really have a favorite team, but I follow it a little.

Doesn't take a lot to figure out who I'm for.  The seem to have lost that post-olympic spirit though.

I saw the video of that.  What an embarassing way to end a game.

2-1 Kings.  :o

I didn't realize that Versus (and thank god it's back on Directv) was picking up the on-going games that they didn't schedule.  I changed the channel & went to bed after the Blackhawks/Predators game was over, but Versus apparently carried the rest of the Sharks/Avalanche game.

That'll change tomorrow. 2-2 tie.

The Buffaslugs and Bruins really need to stop going into overtime.  :thatsright:

Cutting into my game for the second (almost third) time.

Once again the hockey gods spread Philadelphia's cheeks and shove dick in ass.  Carter and Gagne are both out with broken feet.  Carter's gone for 6 weeks, Gagne for 3.  We're doomed.  :banghead:

Tell me about it. But at least Boyle made up for it in the next game with a goal on the 1st power play. Glad to see the Sharks finally got to Anderson in game 5. Let's hope they can keep the momentum going in game 6 and beyond.

Reputation is all sewn up
POSTED: April 23, 2010  By Phil Sheridan

NEWARK, N.J. - Ian Laperriere had one question for Jim McCrossin when the Flyers' trainer reached him at center ice:

"Can you see my eye?"

The small miracle of the Flyers' becoming the first team to win a first-round series - after being the last team to squeak into the NHL playoff field - will have to take a backseat to the miracle that McCrossin's answer was yes. Yes, Laperriere's right eye was still there.

Third period. Flyers leading, 3-0. Laperriere was in the defensive zone as the puck came out to the point. That meant sacrificing his body to prevent a shot getting through.

This time, the puck was bouncing unevenly along the ice as New Jersey defenseman Paul Martin wound up for the shot. Martin launched a rocket as Laperriere dropped to the ice and slid toward the puck.

What followed was sickening to watch. It was terrifying to experience, enough so that it changed Laperriere's point of view about his safety.

The puck struck Laperriere inches above his right eye. He jumped to his feet and started skating. As he crossed the blue line, the blood started spraying onto the ice, first droplets then big fat spatters of it. Laperriere finally went down again between the red line and the far blue line.

Yikes.  What a warrior.  He'll never get the $$$ he deserves, but he's got the respect.  Just curious:  has anybody ever witnessed Cindy Crysby block a shot in such a manner?

WOOO!!! You know you've had a bad night when your starting goalie gets run, then four shots (and two goals) later, your backup goalie gets the hook and your starter goes in for Round 2.

And then, to save a little morale, you pick two fights in the last seconds of the game... and lose both.  :rotf:

Thank you LA for an entertaining evening.

Probably, but I didn't think they'd get past the Caps either. Should be a good series.

And the Redwings are already down one against the Sharks.  :hi5:

No response to that game because I was away from my computer. It was bad I'll admit but not as bad as the Deadwings losing 3 in a row.  :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Now we wait for our next victims.....er, opponents.

Ouch....but, as a possible opponent in the conference finals, I have to say that I hope he takes a very long time to recover.

His nickname isn't the Fragile Finn for nothing...

Fortunately he was back skating today, and is a game time decision. Keeping my fingers crossed. Guy has a cannon of a slapper.

Sorry to see you guys lose....if the Sharks keep playing the the way they have in the last 2 series the Blackhawks should be no problem.

I'm seeing some Flyers players being treated like prison bitches tonight...

From NHL.com:

Puck drop -- The Flyers have a 1-13 record when trailing a series 3-2, with the only victory coming in the 1989 Patrick Division Finals when they defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in seven games.
