Title: Janitorial DUmmy PCIntern Dreams Of A Professional Life
Post by: GOBUCKS on April 15, 2010, 06:48:41 PM
DUmmy PCIntern, who used to fantacize about running a medical office, now dreams of dentistry. Not only is DUmmy PCIntern not a dentist (probably a janitorial worker), one must doubt whether he's ever even had a dental appointment. I've been to the dentist at least 3 times a year my entire life, and I've never had, nor heard anyone else having, the kind of rambling bull sessions DUmmy PCIntern dreams of. It is difficult to ramble with someone's hand in your mouth, doing possibly painful things. This bouncy is as improbable as the political debates DUmmies are dragged into in grocery store checkout lines. Soon, I expect to read about the political discussions in DUmmy Hawkeye-X's veterinary office:

I'm Sofa King tired...
I get up at 4:30 AM to get to the office by 5:15 so i can get ready for my "day" which begins at 6 with the assorted folks who've spent the night or nights up with toothaches, swellings, and assorted pathologies. Every single one has legitimate reasons for things being as bad as they are by the time they get to see me. We dispense with these folks in short order, either by referral for endodontics (root canal therapy), prescriptions for those too swollen to treat, or extraction for those who possess non-restorable teeth, something we're seeing more and more of these days. This happens every recession. Suffice it to say, no one walks out in pain or without the likelihood of being out of pain within 6-8 hours.

Then the real day begins: assorted, generally nice folk, coming in, and virtually all of them have a sad tale of woe involving the workplace. Jobs disappearing, two or three jobs being melded into one, uncertainty as to whether the job will be there, crazy bosses, crazy underlings, crazy family members. It's a continuous shriek which lasts the entire day. Invariably there's one really horrible story which sets us back on our heels: inoperable cancer, loss of a child, sudden and complete mental breakdown in the family or of the individual, divorce of long-term marrieds, drug/alcohol abuse in people whom you wouldn't necessarily believe would get involved, weird piercings in really weird places, smelly people, stinky people, B.O. beyond belief people, alcohol-on-breath, stoned, and worse.

All this mixed in with political discussion, music criticism, family counseling, drug and alcohol counseling, medical referrals for obesity or diabetic syndromes yet undiagnosed, confessions about significant others - some of which are almost unbelievable unless you knew the people personally, notes telling me that the person can't pay their $185.00 bill except over time, and then in almost the same sentence, explaining that they're going on a cruise to the Western Caribbean and occupying a high deck on the cruise ship and where will they park the car for the 10 days because Jaguars are often flat bedded and stolen (you can't make this stuff up), and don't forget staff excitement: feuds, jealousy, moodiness, parties, weekends, vacations, sick leave on Mondays and Fridays, family issues, boyfriend issues, husband AND boyfriend issues,...and worse.

And then the respite: entering the days' work after everyone's left, listening to a little Berlioz Te Deum, occasionally stopping in the office to see Ed or Tweety on the TV, having takeout dinner and posting to DU...and then:

I get to go home, watch Keith's last 1/2 Rachel's show, the, if I can make it, Keith's first 1/2...and then darkness blessedly falls.

...and then it's 4:30 AM...just like THAT!

I doubt DUmmy PCIntern would be more skilled at dentistry than DUmmy ThomWV.

I suspect the primitive's trying to establish some bona fides as a dentist, and we all know how well that works.

Where the hell does this joker work, some all-nite pizza/beer hall with a dental service on the side?

My dentist is one of the sweetest, most gentle ladies I know. But after our initial pleasantries, the conversation is pretty much this:

Her: Gonna feel a pinch, now...be right back...feel that?...zzzzzzbrrrrrzzzzzzzzzzbrrrrrrrzzzzzzzzbrrrrrrzzzzzzz...suction please....turn toward me...zzzzbrrrrzzzzbrrrzz...suction...beautiful...give me the #5 disenfrapulator...okay, cure that...be right back...

Me: Unngh...mmmph... uh-uh...uh-huh...mmph...ptooey

Is there a class I can take to be a dentist? I don't care much for the sciences though, so if I can get around that, it would be a great career for me.

It sounds as if he sits in a neighborhood bar all day, eavesdropping on the other drunks, then imagines the conversations would be the same if he had a job. Sort of like a day in the life of DUmmy Will Pitt.

Oh please - what dentist starts work at 6 am for emergencies?  And he gives counseling too?

This is a major fabrication of his day.

Interesting that he has stopped that annoying deal of writing in the third person.
Perhaps another lurker that saw how foolish he looked.

dandi, great post, you made me laugh, and you are sooo right.  Ptooey!

And what exactly was the point of the janitor's post?  Who cares about the minutae of anyone's lives, down to the TV-watching schedule, and whether you're going to watch 1/2 hour of Keef, or 40 minutes of the Muncher, or whatever.
She posted this in GD, and they moved it elsewhere.  It got about 6 responses, mainly snarky tea party comments, for some reason.

Amazing what one can accomplish cowering in the basement from the Philly flash mobbers. :mental:
