WASHINGTON – The chairman of a congressional panel that oversees mine safety on Wednesday released a list of 48 mines that could face greater scrutiny if not for delays in assessing the safety violations filed against them.

Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., said he wants the public to have all relevant information about potentially dangerous mines in the hope of avoiding another disaster.

The list includes the Upper Big Branch Mine in West Virginia, where 29 miners died in an explosion last week.

Twenty-one others on the list are coal mines in West Virginia. Included are four coals mines in Kentucky and one coal mine each in Illinois, Virginia, Utah, Wyoming, Kansas and Arizona. The remaining 16 mines are metal and nonmetal mines in 13 states.

So a democrat congressman from California lists up 48 coal operations for attack by the muslim's administration.
Anyone want to guess how many are non-union?

yea, a congressman from Cal. really knows all about our mines here in WV. I live 31 miles from the Big Branch Mine. There are 6 mines within 10 miles of my house. About 99% of ALL employment here is tied to those mines or it's support. You want a welfare state, screw with the mines. It's not just miners, it's coal truck drivers, equipment maint, Equip sales. Railroaders who haul mostly coal. Even restaurants would hurt if people couldn't afford them.Of course Rockefeller will probably roll over and play dead for em.

Lord Zero also said in a speech this morning that the was the Mine Safety department would be looking at safety issues.   Here comes the war on coal, just like the war on Toyota.
