When would you have time to spend 16 hours a day smoking pot, eating Cheetos, drinking Mt. Dew and running your post count to stratospheric levels on the DUmp?
What will Omaha Steve do now?

No more net access for me at work
It has been nice that when it was slow at work, I could surf. No more. I won't have as much time to read or post on the DU either.

Either his boss or the IT people caught little stevie wonder posting and finally got the attention of someone that didn't like what they saw on the work computer. Sucks to be him.

Well, my question to my fellow Nebraskan Omaha Steve is this: why was he surfing the internet at work in the first place?
Isn't one supposed to, uh, work during work?

I tool great delight in the news that Comcast is capping monthly usage.

Where I work we are allowed to use the web during lunch and regular breaks but we are still limited to sites that are decent.I never go to DU at work, no way. I seldom go there anyway but there is so much hatred and foul language dripping from the DUmp I am sure my company would consider it inappropriate. The place reeks of hatred.

Coach, you would not believe some of the excuses I use to hear. If truth be known most admins have way more than enough to do than to be watching out for lollygagging workers ( that is a line management function and admins are not line types). But there are those who are so blatant in their abuse that an admin has no choice but to dime them out.
The excuses made the "dog ate my homework" line look good, honest. Every now and then I would just grab an offenders cursor or pop up a message telling them big brother was indeed watching, Even then there were those who didn't get the message. When it came to days off or removal I sometimes felt bad for a minute or two but I managed to get over it. That was never one of the more enjoyable parts of the job.

Heh! I used to send emails to IT when I saw fellow "workers" abusing the net when they were supposed to be getting something done!
I was the one usually having to pick up their slack! I always warned them IT could check their on-line time. They replied, "Oh, those geeks don't know nuttin'!".
They didn't know I worked part-time for IT! Never told the either! Jerks!

When you view DC as your sugar daddy, pilfering company time is second nature.

I have one great story about a whole department that revolted against a single female user. It was a bi- partisan torches and pitch fork moment because of limited resources (very few computers, many users). The Chatty Patty never got her password back (not my call either) while I was there, a CLM considering most jobs require computer access. Mostly it was porn that cused all the problems in the early days.

Did you pass your BOFH training ?
A *real* admin should have a script to grep logfiles and take the ... appropriate ... actions. :-)
Can't let the sheep forget who is the ruler of network land and get complacent after all.

One would think so, wouldn't they? We must understand though, that being a DUmmy IS a full time job. That level of stupidity requires 100% of a DUmmy's limited attention span.
