Post by: rich_t on April 11, 2010, 05:24:07 PM
OK gurus...

I've been haivng an issue.

I can no longer download a pdf file from any government web site such as DFAS.

I don't have a problem with other sites.

I even tried turning off my firewall etc.

When you say download - do you mean download into the browser or download to a saved file.

I've had issues before related to large PDF files freezing browser windows and resolved it by right click and "save as" (then opening the saved file after it downloads)

I will assume you've the most recent version of Adobe Acrobat installed.

It won't download into the browser.

I just tried saving one to file and that seems to work ok.

I don't know why I didn't think of trying that earlier.

Thanks LC

US Govt sites are the worst. I didn't have any problems with the IRS site yesterday, though. Go figure.

Funny thing is that when I had the most problems with PDF files freezing browser windows was when I was working for the State Government here - and downloading the file on their own internal WAN over a (huge at the time) 1.5mb link.
