Real meaning of language in used car ads:

Sacrifice   Car was once set on fire.

Runs like a top   Car wobbles when it comes to a stop.

New Alternator, clutch, starter, tires, brakes and shocks   Car Needs engine.

New engine   Car needs alternator, clutch, starter, tires brakes and shocks.

No dents, rust, dings   Car does not run.

Needs tune-up   Without tune-up, car won't run far enough to reveal what else it needs.

Spotless interior   Upholstery is plaid.

Gleaming exterior   Car has been washed.

Very clean   Dead french fies have been removed from the rear floor.

Runs great   Often starts.

Runs good   Sometimes starts.

Runs  Has been known to start.

A classic   No replacement parts are available.

Rare   Nobody bought cars like this even when they were new.

New tires   Old tires blew when car was used in demolition derby.

Many new parts   As soon as one part has been replaced, car has needed something else.

$500 firm.   Seller needs that much to get out of town.

Low Maintenance   Car has never had an oil change.

Must see.   It would be too complicated to describe the car's condition in writing.

Great starter   Car starts and dies.

Low miles   Odometer has been replaced.

Mint   There is a roll of life savers under the front seat.

Cherry   There is a box of cough drops under the front seat.

One owner   Owner has been unable to sell car.

Solid   Doors, hood and trunk do not open.

All original   Nothing that broke has been repaired.

Very sound condition   AM/FM cassette player works.

Sound condition   Radio portion of AM/FM cassette player works.

Luxurious   Dashboard is covered with fur.

Clearance!   Springs sag.

Like-new cond.   A condenser in the car radio has been replaced recently.

Minor problems   Under-age driver drove car into six lamp posts.

Little rust   Only the bottom half of car is rusty.

Some rust  Part of roof is not rusty.

No rust   Body is made of fiberglass.  Most of that is cracked.

Loaded   Car has oil and gas.

Fully loaded   Car has oil, gas, and windshield washer fluid.

Really loaded   Car has oil, gas, windshield washer fluid and a six-pack of Mello-Yellow.
