Nanny State Alert!!

Because they think we are too stupid to FIND the nutrition info, although they also think 10 years old are mature enough to slut around.
(CNSNews.com) -- Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Kathleen Sebelius said today that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is developing a new regulation that would require food manufacturers to display nutritional information on the front of packages.
This would mean that the front of a Wheaties box, for example, would display not only the smiling face of a famous athlete but also declare how many calories from fat are in each serving.
“Busy shoppers will be able to go into grocery stores and have some easy to understand information on the front of packages giving them quick data on what is a healthier choice,†said Sebelius at the U.S. Capitol

Because turning the box around is too damned difficult. :bs:

Oh well hell. I just have to ask, what does nutritional info on a cereal box have to do with "our govt thinking 10 years old are mature enough to slut around"?
Now, back to your original OP, well, it's just stupid. The label on the front, I mean. Shoot, if anyone is concerned about their weight, they will do their research, front, or back of the box...regardless. Otherwise it is just an affront to the people that don't give a hoot about what they eat, and what their health is. No reason for Sebelius to get involved in the culling of the herd, it is happening already.

When the government-mandated labeling and warnings occupy all available space, they will be legally compliant ... this year ...
Geez, what frickin' idiot thinks Hagen Daaz and Snickers are a healthy diet?! Essential to sanity, maybe, but ...

Because turning the box around is too damned difficult. :bs:
Hey now....
It takes a lot of effort to pick the box off the shelf and turn it around. We shouldn't even have to read it. All food packages should just TELL you the nutrition information. Life is too hard as it is right now. I don't want to have to READ at the grocery store.

Does it really matter where they put it?

Does it really matter where they put it?
No. They already have put nutritional information on the front top and no one pays attention to it.
-
So, are they going to label the hog or the bacon?
-
Things they didn't teach me in kindergarten....
-
If all the nuitrition info is on the front the stores should put the packages on the shelf backwards.

No. They already have put nutritional information on the front top and no one pays attention to it.
More accurately - the people who should pay attention to it - never do. Doesn't matter where that information is printed.
