Title: Men owe women for 'creating beer'
Post by: bijou on April 01, 2010, 12:26:55 PM
Quote
Jane Peyton, 48, an author, said women created beer and for thousands of years it was only they who were allowed to operate breweries and drink beer.

The drink is now almost exclusively marketed to men - with television characters such as Homer Simpson the epitome of the beer-loving male.

Miss Peyton has conducted extensive research into the origins of beer for a new book and reports that a woman's touch was found on beer throughout the ages.

Nearly 7,000 years ago in Mesopotamia and Sumeria, so important were their skills that they were the only ones allowed to brew the drink or run any taverns....

This is a "no shit" moment. Have you SEEN what the "babes" looked like back then?

 Goggles were necessary.

So that's where the yeast came from.

Actually Johnny may have hit on a little known ingredient at the time.

Men were busy out tracking down food on the hoof and protecting the tribe.

Woman at home gathered food from the fields and experimented with everything that they found.

China still uses tiger and rhinos penis in medicine, eye of neut and bat wings.   Men had no time to be  mixing concoctions of anything, they had to take their lives in their own hands to go up against critters 5 times their size to keep the tribe alive.

Interesting as years ago I was taught that the brewing of grains let to the rise of agriculture, staying in one spot and the hunter gatherers came to them for the brew and towns sprung up, became city's, all based on woman tending the fields.

Wouldn't surprise me if Johnny speaking in Jest is not so far off the mark.  NGO had a problem about a society that still exists that takes the urine of virgins, boils it down to a crystalline salt and sells it as a birth control method.   It must work somehow as this society has been producing this stuff for 2,000 years.

I have seen any number of animals that give birth lick the new born and eat the after birth. Yuck I think but some society's still have human woman  who do the same.

Johnny my boy, say way back when, a female with a human yeast infection peed on a moss covered rock.  Later someone else came along and collected the moss for an addition to the soup pot.   For some reason they had to let the pot sit for hours and when they all gathered together and got skunk drunk, the woman went back over everything they put in the pot that day.sooner or later they would have hit on the extra ingredient, if not then they would begin to pray to the rock. :rotf:  :fuelfire:

Obviously, you never saw, "Quest for Fire" or "Clan of the Cave Bear."  They looked like Darryl Hannah.
