SAN ANTONIO – Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison's announcement this morning that she's staying in the U.S. Senate scrambles the playing field for more than a half-dozen Texas politicians who had been angling to replace her.

Today, she said she changed her mind about resigning because the country needs her to stand against the liberal agenda of President Barack Obama and the Democratic majority in Congress.

“My experience will be better used fighting this effort of a president and a Congress to do so much that is really taking away the essence of America,”

A local newscaster referred to her as Texas' "favorite politician".

Odd, considering how badly she lost that primary.

She is too much of a DC insider.

congress reps should have a 2 term limit just like the presidency.  Of course, they'll never pass that legislation.

Guess she got the hint.  I still think she just ran so she could hand the state over to Obutthead.

Please retire now, Kay. If you run again, I hope one of your primary opponents beats you.

Not the first time she done lied.  Let's look at her history as Railroad Commish.  I knew this was where we would end up, and I think it is very, very, very unfortunate.

I've been a supporter of Kay for a while now, even voting for her in the primaries this year. Not again. If she does run again, I'll donate to one of her challengers and try to get her beat in 2012.

Time to weed out the DC insiders including Hutchison.
