Despite intense Republican objections, President Obama on Saturday used recess appointments to fill 15 administration posts without Senate confirmation, including Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board.
All 41 Senate Republicans wrote Obama this week urging him not to use a recess appointment for Becker, a former top lawyer with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the AFL-CIO, whose nomination was rejected by the Senate last month, 52-43.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce also wrote Obama on behalf of 20 business groups that oppose Becker's nomination.
"There is not place on this powerful board for someone who believes that card check legislation -- getting rid of the secret union ballot -- can be enacted surreptitiously through regulation" Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah said in a written statement Thursday.
Democratic groups, such as the AFL-CIO, have said Becker's an experienced advocate for worker rights and have decried GOP "obstructionism."

Every president in modern times has probably done this very thing, and damn Congress to hell for ever granting that authority in the first place.
-
He appointed to Dems to the NLRB, but there was a 3rd republican nominee that was left hanging.
The NLRB is the federal agency that oversees the laws relating to union organizing, and for more than two years, the NLRB has had just two of its five members.
Two years is longer than Obo has been prez, did the Dims refuse to allow President Bush's nominees, or what?

Wow. Look at that racially inferior pasty faced pencil neck. No doubt he's a libTURD. LibTURDs are always pencil neck geeks. The types I used to beat up in High School.

Hi,
I would ask this question. While presidents have used recess appointments, has any president ever done it after the senate voted it down and he received 40+ requests to find another candidate?
This needs to be publicized just to continue the drum beat.

I think the ones that President Bush did were ones that were not even allowed up for a vote.

Miguel Estrada. Look him up.

Miguel Estrada. Look him up.
Yeah he was filibustered because he was Hispanic.President Bush had already gotten black men and women into high positions in his cabinet, the Dims had to have the Hispanic card left for them.

Congress doesn't grant it. It was already in the Constitution. Article II, Section 2.

Hmmm...
So it does.
I stand corrected.

I think it was Jim Webb who'd go in a bang the gavel everytime there was a recess so Bush couldn't do this ? Aren't there any Republican Senators in the DC area?

Nope. And Bush did in fact make recess appointments. John Bolton, anyone?

However, anyone think he isn't going to try to implement Card Check WITHOUT going through Congress?

It will be card check done by regulation instead of law making. Lord Zero is planning an end run around congress if they can't pass it. It's the same thing the EPA is going to deal with cap and trade if congress doesn't do it.

Yes, both he and Clinton made over a hundred recess appointments, but the thing is, with Obama, he had a supermajority up until Scott Brown won and these vacancies were never filled.
