Title: Showdown in Searchlight
Post by: Chris_ on March 27, 2010, 12:03:26 AM
Are there any Nevadans here?

I'm going to the Showdown in Searchlight tomorrow morning.  Searchlight is Harry Reid's town.  The population (if you want to call it that...) is about 800 people.  There are an estimated 10,000 people showing up tomorrow, but we have heard an estimate of UP TO 30,000 in that tiny hick town.

We have a HUGE list of speakers and our key note speaker is....

SARAH PALIN.

I've never seen her in person, so I am VERY excited about that.  John Voigt (did I spell that right... Angelina Jolie's dad), Jerry Doyle, Heidi Harris, Andrew Breibart (again, probably spelled wrong), Joe the Plumber, and many more will be speaking.

Just wanted to know if anyone from here will be attending.

I'm jealous.  I didn't make it to the TEA Party convention in Nashville the other month.  Let us know how it goes.

I will have a ton of pictures.  My camera can hold 1,570 pictures.  There is no way I am taking that many, because editing and resizing is a bitch.

We are heading out around 9am PST.

We will return with pictures and video of Palin's speech.

Yes, please a report with pictures. Sign shots and crowd shots, things the news is not likely to show you.

Oh I almost forgot don't mention all the death threats and the racist language used by the tea party members.  :-)

Unfortunately we had to leave early... within 45 minutes of getting there.

Our nine month old daughter started feeling ill.  The strong winds were definitely not helping her situation.  We didn't get to see Palin or even hear her speech.

I took some pictures (not many since we weren't there that long) and about five videos of the crowd.  There was well over 40,000 people there.  We had to park about two miles from the town.  When we left, there was about an eight mile back up of people trying to come in.  It was amazing.  I figured the crowd would be large, but not THAT large.

Everyone was very nice, of course.  I even saw *gasp* black people there, I guess they didn't get the memo from the liberals.  No one was yelling racial slurs or spitting on others.  No bricks through windows.  No death threats.  I cannot believe how peaceful this group was, especially since the democrats say they are so evil.

I'm going to upload the few pictures that I do have.  I'll grab some photos from Danny Tarkanian's supporters once they are posted on Facebook.  Most of the Searchlight crowd is attending the Tea Party in Henderson at 5pm featuring Ann Coulter.
