Title: F*#@$NG Friday...
Post by: NHSparky on March 26, 2010, 12:29:50 AM
0130 hours--just got off tags for work.  Now we have to wait for Ops to clear tags so I can do my 20-minute job that I've been held over to do (was supposed to get off at 11 last night.)

Asked the boss what he wants me to do for shift schedule tomorrow.  Gave me the, "wait and see" bit.  I'm guessing I won't be out of here until after 6.  NRC fatigue rules say I turn into a pumpkin after 16 hours (which comes at 7 AM) and have to have at least 10 hours off before coming in again.  I'm tentatively scheduled to work 3-11 PM today, but if they don't cut me a break, would be in 5-11 PM, since I have to have the 10 hours off.  On top of all that, still have the beeper this weekend, so no drinky for me.

Getting colder by the second.  Drizzling now, will be turning to snow later tonight/this morning.  Just in time for drive home.  Yay.  Well, at least I can get some breakfast on the way home.

Poor Sparky.... I hope you get off soon and get something to eat on the way home before you go sleepytime. Drive carefully....

Just finished two of my 5 reports. Only lost part of one and was able to redo it and get it submitted. Yippeee for me... :whatever:

Going to bed for a while, getting up early (for me) to try to get the other 3 done before 10....provided they will save and upload.

Gotta take care of the dog first.  Poor guy is probably going to be dancing from having to pee so bad.  He is without a doubt the best house-trained dog I've EVER had, bar none.

And there is exactly ONE place I can think of that's open 24 hours for breakfast, and that's the truckstop off I-95.  Given that and starvation, I'll take the latter.  Most places around here don't open for breakfast until 6 or so.  No such thing as Denny's or IHop unless you go to Manchester or Boston area.  There's Friendly's, and they're so-so, I guess.

Grilled English Muffins with my breakfast....  :yum:

I'm looking at another short work week, which I hope changes, but I can live for awhile this way. Cold this morning, only 28, but at least it's not snowing.

Off work today and Saturday would be sleeping still if kids didn't need to be on the bus so damn early

Lucky me--got off work a bit after 5, got some breakfast on the way home (memo to self--NOBODY in NH can do biscuits and gravy), and surprisingly, dog didn't make a mess in his area.

Now it's a case of see how long I can stay up.  The Red Bulls are wearing off fast.

When I finally went to bed about 2:30....the moon and stars were out. In fact the moon was so bright, I thought an outside light was on by mistake!!!

I must have been sleepwalking.....it's gloomy, drizzly, and all around yukky, damp, and moldy 46 out....

Going to try to tackle my remaining 3 reports and see if they will upload..... :???:

Cool and sunny this morning. Just the way I like it. About to head home from the girlfriend's house, get some breakfast and do laundry. Have a mandatory advising session for the surgical tech program I'm trying to get into this afternoon. Once I do that, I can actually apply for it. Busy day...

I have no idea what the weather is like outside as I can't see out my windows  One more day of being taped up and not able to get out. I did get to go to the graocery store yesterday when they let me go to get my daughter.  I am ready for this painting to be finished.  The poor dogs haven't be able to go in the backyard. For some reason they don't like to pee when they are on their leash.

I don't think I would be going out today anyway, I think I have some 24 hour bug. I feel like I want to throw up and my stomach hurts.  My husband complained of feeling the same way and went to bed early last night. He felt better this morning so maybe it will last only a few hours.

Well Sparky, think of this way, at least your'e wanted.

I love me some B&G. I use peppered gravy mix (Southwestern Mills/Wonderbread) and add a dash of poultry seasoning to it. Biscuits are Southwestern Mills sourdough mix. It's fast and easy to use, plus it's fluffier and less salty than Bisquick. (yes I go to the Wonderbread outlet alot)

Oh, must have scrambled eggs on top too.

Sausage gravy is so easy to make from scratch, once you get the hang of it.

When I first started making it ..... if there hadn't been sausage in it, it could have been used for wallpaper paste!!!

I don't know if we have a Wonderbread outlet here....there's stuff there other than just Wonderbread?

I think that's the stuff I use, Wineslob...brown a package of Jimmy Dean HOT sausage, then mix in the gravy.  Heaven.

Now you're going to make me go out and do that for this weekend.  Of course, I'll have to get some biscuits.  I'm lazy, so I'll probably just do the refrigerated ones.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Tabasco on them yet.  Guess that's just my thing.

And yeah, what does it tell ya that I didn't get up until almost 2:30?

Bright and sunny outside, but temperature already down to 34, with windchill of 20.  Great, love the wind too...they're calling for 15 tomorrow morning with WC around 0.

Good night for a fire in the fireplace and clean inside tomorrow.  Second load of laundry already on.

Sparky....buy the Pillsbury frozen biscuits. They are much better than the ones in the can.

I have been trying to get my son to cut his hair since he moved home the first of December.

It was down over his collar and didn't look bad, but he has kind of curly hair so it looked sloppy ( to me). He got a "trim" about a month ago....but still it was pretty much the same.

A little while ago....he decided to cut it. He still has his clipper thingie from when he was in the Navy.

I cut it all off to about an inch and a half and he's been buzzing it real close for the last half hour or so.

He asked me to "clean it up" around his neck and ears.

I have never used one of those thingies.

I did ok on the back of his neck.....but it's a bit of an obvious square around one ear.

Oops.....

I just heard him tell M that I could screw up a wet dream....

nuh-uh....I don't either.... :naughty:

Tell him if he doesn't like it, he can do it himself.  That's what I do.  So I'm bald for a few weeks.  Whatever.

And yeah, I do the frozen ones occasionally, but sometimes it's hard to go through the whole package before the expiration date.

My son had longish hair (and it was kinda curly) and I kept telling him to cut it.  Then he cut it and now I miss his long hair.  Sniffle.

Sounds great! One thing, I have to watch my fat intake (high bloodpressure) so no sausage. I find with the buscuit mix it's not much more trouble than doing the "tube" ( :p ) ones.

Tabasco? You heathen!   :hammer:

It's been really nice here today and through the weekend.   :hyper: I think I'll break in the tablesaw (1950's) I restored over the last few weeks. I have a few projects lined up.

Try turkey sausage.

Try turkey sausage.

I use the Jimmy Dean turkey sausage (usually 2 rolls) and add onion and garlic powders and a bit of cayenne, while browning it.

Sift a couple of tablespoons of flour over it once it gets browned...then gradually add milk. Leave it on medium until it starts to bubble, cut it back to low, and let it cook ..stirring frequently....until the flour taste is gone. Add more onion powder and pepper as needed til I like the taste.

I've had born and raised Southerners tell me it's the best they've ever tasted. As a non-Southerner who had never made sausage gravy until I was in my 30's....that's a compliment!

Tabasco.  Indeed.  Try the Chipotle one when you can.  I didn't think Tabasco could get better.  But it did.   When I make B&G, I add a little dry mustard, or paprika, or both.

Never thought about adding dry mustard to sausage gravy, yet I put mustard on a sausage biscuit.. :thatsright:
Great idea, will try it next time!!
