You guys don't get it do you?

NO! You can't make that slight of hand, not with this bill. Health CARE is NOT the responsibility of Congress. They were very specific about that. We tried to make it so, but they dumped single payer, they dumped the public option, they included loop holes that allow people STILL to go uninsured.
Yes, they made it the OBLIGATION of all citizens to buy health INSURANCE. A few of those of meager means won't have to pay a penalty. THAT'S what this legislation does.
Health CARE is still an option. And this bill was heavily based upon the Dole/Baker plan that was SPECIFICALLY designed to BLOCK any attempt to make health care the responsibility of the government.
We've just established that health care is NOT a right, but purchasing insurance is an obligation. Purchasing insurance that's TOO good gets taxed.
Congratulations.

3. Not a right, but an obligation - I give that a +100
Poor Ted Kennedy. I'm fairly certain he didn't want the bill to turn out like this.
Screw Dead Ted, he's more worried about keeping cool and staying out of range of the pitchforks. Not much of a bonfire.

18. "We've just established that health care is NOT a right" Complete nonsense
All Americans, including those with no income, will now have a right to care. Period.

26. No.
It isn't there. This bill doesn't ensure that at all. Quite the opposite, for some, there is an allowance not to purchase health insurance if their income is too low and the cost too high. And there is no obligation for you to receive health care from anyone.

66. Actually, we would have attacked you for being off topic had you brought this up in Skinner's thread
Now, all we can do is say it was wrong of you to start a separate thread. But either way, we could still attack you and imply you're from Canada or you're a communist or a coffee grinder or something. You can't beat us. Our tactics and smears are infinite and people like you are always limited by the facts. You might as well surrender and join the Big Win. You have no chance, otherwise. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

awwwww...........thanks for sharing that one Ree. I needed a chuckle today.
