Can they arrest you for not paying the fine if you don't purchase insurance?   Updated at 3:14 AM

I'm arguing with a freeper and I need to know. I figured they got it off Fox News, but I don't know.

Yes DUmmy they can even if it isn't stated in the bill. It will be collected by the IRS and the IRS has the power to arrest you if you do not pay up. Granted odds are if you don't they will tack on tons of extra fines and interest and try to collect it but, given enough time you can go to jail.

Odds are you won't even have the chance to not pay it anyway. The money will be deducted from your withholdings. If you want to get technical it's not a fine so much as it is a tax. Even though Obama rejected the notion that it is a tax it still is a tax.

Aren't the DUmmies going to surprised when they do sign up for Ocare and find out they just gave the government access to their bank accounts?  If they have any, that is.

6. least of my worries.
I'm in the "in need of subsidizing" group.

Absolutely sure about that?  No free ponies for you for 4 more years.  At that time, you may be making *just* enough money to not qualify.  But not enough to avoid real financial pain.  That's OK, just bite your pillow.

Stenchy is being a particularly obnoxious know-it-all on this thread.  For example,

18. The law is written and implicitly states that not paying the fine
will not be criminally enforced, and you cannot be levied or your property liened.

As a Tax accountant, I can tell you that only a fool would need to be afraid
of the IRS.
If you don't pay your tax or you are being fraudulent, you could be
scared, otherwise, I'm not sure why you'd think they are the military or something?
Maybe it's because I've handled so many audits. But personally I know that the IRS
is not the boogeyman. As for your information, they have it all already.....
so I don't even know what you are referring to...this IRS = Boogieman soundbyte.

I think you sound ridiculously paranoid.

Did we know this?  Is this bullshit?  Anyway, gotta run out for a bit, I'm not through with this thread.

How many of you have seen a sign on your doctors door saying "WE DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICARE/MEDICAID PATIENTS"......Well the DUmmies had better add "OBAMACARE" to the list that the doctors don't take......but it is free....at least for them.

In one state (I forget which) Walgreens has stated that after april 16th they will no longer accept new people using medicaid because they are losing a ton of money.

The bright side is, there'll be 16,500 IRS agents to look through your medical records to make sure you're paying enough...

Oh wait.. That's NOT a bright side....  :bird:

You know, at the rate we've been going for the last few years, a used car saleman will soon be seen as a highly ethical person. Judges, lawyers, politicians....etc. not so good.

At least used car salesman can be avoided. Judges, Lawyers, etc can't be simply ignored.

I just had a thought....there is a bright side....the camps will be full of non-tax/insurance paying DUmmies. ....and we know how well socialist camp commanders treat their wards.......You'll work now DUmmies....you have served your purpose and they no longer have any need of you.

Seriously, people are not talking about this rather important point.  The New England Journal of Medicine took a poll which showed that 46% of doctors would retire if this bill passes.  Why should they have to mess with the likes of complaining, whining, hypochondriachal DUmmies for pennies on the dollar?  Go play golf instead.  Right now, here, if you want to make an appt for just a checkup, it's a six month wait.  Ocare?  A year or more or never, ever.  Nobody's talking about this.

17. So, what you're saying is, you can just NOT pay the penalty, and there will be no further
penalties and no tax evasion charges?

I dunno, Frenchie...why don't I believe you? Maybe it's because, no matter what the facts are, you have the same, predictable opinions.

If small businesses are required to provide insurance, won't there be more lay offs to meet this mandate ?  They should worry more about holding on to their jobs  :mental:

If 60 is the employee limit, why wouldn't a business owner fire all but the youngest, healthiest 59?

If you insist on getting serious, here goes. Only 14% of american doctors belong to the AMA but they control all the medical teaching schools. They limit the number of doctors admmitted to medical schools to create an artificial shortage to keep prices up. If there isn't a shortage of doctors, why are there so many Indian/Pakistani doctors in this country?

If you want lower medical cost, train more doctors/nurses, build more hospitals and sue the hell out of John Edwards type lawyers.

Competition and an over abundance of a product lowers prices....CAPITALISM is the answer, not SOCIALISM.

I saw it mentioned on a thread at the DUmp yesterday but for one of the O care medicaid new sign ups in NY the county will attach a lien to your assets.

If I was a business owner, I'd go in the parking lot, look to see who has Obama or Democrat bumper stickers, and fire those people.

But that's me.  :innocent:

Actually I have a bright side in all this.  A fund I'm invested in is heavily invested in insurance companies!  LOL  Guess I need to run out and buy me some 'Big Pharma' stocks too .....
