Title: Grass is always greener
Post by: Inga on March 21, 2010, 07:57:37 PM
There's no question about it:Foods derived from grazing animals not only taste better than their counterparts, they offer better nutrition, too. Beef and milk from grass-fed cattle have higher levels of essential vitamins(E,C,and beta carotene), contain more brain and heart-boosting omega-3 fatty acids, and are leaner, thus containing less fat and fewer calories.

Even as the grass-fed movement gains momentum, though, you might have a hard time finding pasture-raised meat, poultry, and dairy at the local supermarket. That's where http://www.eatwild.com/comes in.

The site list more than 800 pasture-based farms in all 50 states that sell meat, eggs, milk, butter, and cheese directly to consumers. You don't even need to live near a farm to get in on the action. While most require pickup in person(especially for dairy products), others ship prime cuts of meat right to your door.

Some third party material by Jo Robinson author of Pasture Perfect.

I have found some grass fed meats need to be tenderized with herbal vinegars or milk.
