BREAKING -- House to vote on the Senate bill

The House is going to vote on the Senate bill, foregoing the controversial "Slaughter Solution" that would have allowed members to avoid voting directly on the Senate legislation, which many House Democrats have problems with, according to lawmakers leaving an afternoon whip meeting.

That may be so, but honestly, I expected no other result. However, this is good news for other reasons

Most of them being that the Dems can't hide behind their vote.  Its also good because it shows again, that there is only one bill under consideration, and all the crap that Obama has been spewing about changes, bipartisanship, etc. etc. mean nothing.

It also means there is no reconciliation - the Democrats want to change it, they need to introduce a new set of amendments that need to go through congress the normal way.

Although this is wishful thinking, It could also be signalling --  Pelosi is letting the existing bill go down in flames and is willing to start over.

This means one of two things.

1) they have the votes and don't need such a dastardly maneuver. (more likely got burned with the publicity)
or
2) they lied. They will use the Slaughter Rule anyway...knowing the media won't report the last minute switch.

Bottom line: Democrats lie. The democrats will toss the constitution every time it becomes inconvenient.

I hear Hoyer this afternoon and from what he said, I am still confused about what they are doing.

If they are forgoing the "deeming" does that mean it goes back to the Senate before it goes to Obama?

"Deeming is also known as the "Slaughter Solution", where a bill would be considered "passed" without a vote....

"Deem and pass" is the technical term for it....

IF these numbnuts pass the Senate bill, it's ready for Zero's autograph, no changes, no reconciliation, no nothing....

The Senate bill passed on Christmas Eve, becomes law....

Merry Christmas, Happy Easter....

I hear Hoyer this afternoon and from what he said, I am still confused about what they are doing.

If they are forgoing the "deeming" does that mean it goes back to the Senate before it goes to Obama?

A short timeline

1. Senate passed a bill on Christmas eve.
2. Congressional Democrats hate the bill, and want their own Ponies added.
3. Scott Brown wins an unlikely contest in Massachusetts, Giving the Senate Republicans back the filibuster.
4. Congressional Democrats know that because of Brown, they can't railroad changes they make to the Senate bill back through the Senate. Democrats in congress are feeling pressure from both far left and moderate Democrats back home who both hate the Senate bill for differing reasons and they don't really want to vote on this bill at all.
5. Obama leans hard on Congress, claims his presidency rides on this bill.
6. 'Deem and Pass' is considered - meaning that the Congress gets to vote only on the reconciliation, not the actual bill - if the reconciliation passes, the bill it reconciles passes automatically- this would toss the hot potato back into the Senate's lap.
7. Apparently, the people who listen to the wrong talk radio, and watch the wrong channels on TV have made enough of a stink about this that this move is now considered more toxic than the original bill.

What congress does now ? who knows.. I suspect it will pass followed by an amendment bill. Obama signs the Senate's healthcare bill, and then when the Senate filibusters the amendment bill, Congressional Democrats can finally blame Republicans for something - which will make them all happy.

I'm still not sure that it passes.  Obama wants illegal aliens to be covered in the bill.  So does the Hispanic Caucus.  They have said that, if illegals aren't covered in the bill, then they're not voting for it.  If they carry through on this, the bill is dead.  The Senate bill doesn't cover illegals.  If the House tries to "fix" it afterward, they run the risk of it being stopped in the Senate.

They are going to vote for it, and then blame Senate Republicans once nobody gets any ponies for four years.

This is how they intend to stop the bleeding that voting for this bill will cause the Democrats. -- By going back to what they do best.. Blame Bush.

Hmmm . . . seems that someone didn't like a window in one of Louise Slaughter's offices . . .

Miskie, "blame Bush" doesn't hold water any more.  I think that they know it--and the Tea Partiers are reinforcing that message.  The message will get louder as more of this mess is revealed over the next few months.

Last I heard they have a vote scheduled for Sunday, but I'm not exactly sure what time.

'Blame Bush' doesn't work for rational, thinking people - but the idiot Obama worshippers lap it up.

I read a few....LOL

Lets say some in the tea party want Obama out because he's black....hell, most of the liberals voted for him because he's black.

I'd say it all comes out in the wash.

It can't. Any promise Lord Zero made to Stupak regarding an EO regarding any funding passed in this bill is a load of BS, and every congressperson knows it.
