That's according to the outside of the 2010 Obama White House Census envelope I received today. They cite Title 13 of the U.S. Code, however Article 1, Section 2 of the supreme law of the land, otherwise known as the U.S. Constitution, the only information I am required to provide is the number of people living in my household. They have no right to invade my family's privacy.
It's also interesting to note that in the section about who NOT to count in your household, they make no mention of people without legal citizenship.
-
They have made it clear they want to count illegals as if they were citizens
-
Really seems like much ado about nothing. They've obviously already got your name and address, given that much to start with for 95% of Americans, they can get about a hundred times more info than they're actually asking for from open sources on the innerwebz with a minimal amount of effort, if they were really trying to pry into your life.

True, however, that doesn't mean that we have to make it easy for them......nor should we provide more than Constitutionally required......
Largely they turn the data around and sell it to third parties for advertising and marketing purposes......if they want more, they can dig for it....

The one thing that really got me was the Race section. Last time I checked, my race was Caucasian. Not White. White is a color, not a race.

That is weird

I like that idea.
-
I checked other and wrote in human. Hey they asked what race, not color or ethnicity? I also did not give them my phone number. I guess they will come knocking?
-
Well, if they want my skin color, I don't know how to describe it...off white, brown egg shell white, dirty pink, blotchie tan ......???????????

How many people come from the Caucasus mountains anyway?

People understand color.....
Wonder how many these days don't even know that they are Caucasian?
In the CE class I took a week or so ago....one of the things we discussed is that under the Fair Housing Act....race and color are two separate entities. For instance....African does not mean black. Or, how black is black? Obama is a perfect example.

That is my whole gripe. Which is it? Race, or Color? How come our option is white, but the reds, yellows, browns, and blacks don't get a color too???
I am just being difficult. :whatever:

No you aren't.
Your point was part of our discussion also.
Speaking from the standpoint of the Fair Housing Act it has been amended many times over the years.
Basically, people cannot be discriminated with regard to race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin.
It has been amended to "race, color and national origin" because over the years....each term has altered it's meaning.
First it was just race....because it was a white or black issue after slavery ended.
Then color was added....because it wasn't such a white/black issue. Asians and Native American Indians were being discriminated against.
Then national origin was added....in order to make sure if one didn't get it (understand that people cannot be discriminated against) as far as race or color was considered...then maybe national origin would clarify.
Just for clarification....sex does not refer to hetero/homosexuality...it refers to male/female.
At this point in time....sexual preference has not yet been explicitly specified, though that is probably going to happen. It is sort of covered under familial status - what constitutes a family unit....but not gender specific.

I wasn't necessarily meaning I was being difficult here, per se. I have been "difficult" about this for a whole long time. Ask my Mama. :-)
The whole thing is just so darned stupid.

GO TO HELL....Hey, it's a response.

They don't have my name. The envelope came addressed to "The resident at."
-
We don't have mail service out here, so I reckon we'll get a personal visit. The dogs need the exercise, anyhow.
-

Yup. Mine too.
I filled the damned thing out yesterday and mailed it in. I coulda been a prick, but rather than see one of those bullshit census takers at my door gesturing at my :bs: :bird: indications on the stupid thing, I opted to just answer the questions.
Yeah, I caved in. :rotf:
-
I filled mine out yesterday.
Turns out the Business family lives at this address. There's Nunya, Nunya Jr. and the lady of the house Aintyur.

:rotf: +1
Expect a knock on the door from some ruffian who can barely speak English, demanding to know who "Aintyur" is. :lmao:
-
I've inspired at least one other person to supply only the number of people in their household. :hi5:
-
I was tempted to check off OTHER in the race section and write in KLINGON.
-
I'm deeming that I answered it.

Dug through the stack of mail on the kitchen counter and found the census form. I'm torn. I'm half tempted to just fill out the number of people living here (2) or actually fill the whole thing out. I'm sure my roommate will fill out all her info though.
-
We got the census form about two weeks ago. I guess I should fill it out. They sent a reminder postcard stressing that it is required to be filled out.
-
I haven't recieved my form yet.

My wife intercepted ours, and fillled it out before I could have any fun with it. :banghead:

I found mine hanging on the gate. Guess they didn't want to play with the pup. (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_S2NbJIwrsZc/R0_0SulIOdI/AAAAAAAAC1I/CbGWc9AJ1jA/s1600-R/Dog-GermanShepherd-01.jpg)

what a cute puppy

I took ours, filled out the number of people, and put it right back in the mail box. A week later, we received a letter that said it was very important for us to answer all the questions. Whatever.
I wanted to put my phone number as 867-5309, but my husband said not to do it. I should have done it anyway.

I like you.
I have mine all filled out, and it is on my table waiting to be mailed. I have received a letter stating I better hurry up and fill that out, the dang day after I got it.
Really, I own my own house, they already have my SSN, and phone number, linked to this address. I debated claiming my dog as a second resident, as: "Australian, Canine." but thought better of it. I will more than likely earn my way to the S-list of the gubmint at some point, might not want to do it just yet. :-)

On my tax forms, where it asks for my phone number, I always put (970) 911-1212 (or some other variation off of the 911-prefix). I also list my occupation as "Third World Despot". (Who knew that the US was going to be a third-world country in my lifetime and I'd actually get my chance...)

Maybe you can get business cards printed?
-
I don't even think the one sent here was even opened. I have no idea but I think it was just trashed.

Be ready for one of those armed census takers to show up at your door. :fuelfire:
-
I hope the vicious pomeranian is held back when the person comes... but the pit bull will just want to play.
-
I still haven't filled mine out yet...I think I put it in the junk mail pile...maybe I'll go through it this weekend.
-
I'm sure mine is still sitting in the mailbox.

Ours has been on the kitchen counter for about 2 weeks....M puts it in my mail pile...I move it back to his....it comes back to mine.... :-)
Not sure who is going to fill it out....but I'm pretty sure who won't be....so I probably will.... :whatever:
-
I still haven't received mine yet.
-
yeah, mine has about 3 or 4 various stains on it from coffee, food, beer, etc. I've been using it as a coaster.
:lmao: :whatever:
-
Husband got annoyed at the questions so he tore it up and threw it out . . . oh well, he's the one who's home during the day so he'll have to deal with it! We have not gotten a reminder notice nor a phone call yet. If a response is required by law (which I don't actually think it is), can I give this response?:
-
I live so far back in the sticks my ISP is 2 snuff boxes with waxed string and I have lived her for 4 decades and I have never recieved any census form in my life.
For those interested there is a lot for sale next to mine. :rotf:
-
Ok. I got my letter that said I would be getting my census. Then I got my census a week later. I filled it out, but quite frankly I didn't mail it. A week later I got a notice that MY RESPONSE IS REQUIRED BY LAW. But, I forgot to mail it. Then, today I received another letter, with another census that stated MY RESPONSE IS REQURED BY LAW. WTF? Now I am feeling unruly and stuff. I don't like bullies.
-
Look what came in the mail...
