Actor Peter Graves, who starred in the hit TV show, ‘Mission Impossible,’ was found dead at about 3:40 p.m. PT in his Pacific Palisades, Calif. home on Sunday. He was 83.
Law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times that Graves appears to have died of natural causes.
Graves’ illustrious career spanned over 50 years, but he was best known for playing James Phelps, the leader of a secret team of government agents known as the “Impossible Missions Force" in 'Mission Impossible' from 1967 to 1973 and again when the show mad a comeback from 1988 to 1990.
In Oct. 2009, Graves was honored with a star on the 'Hollywood Walk of Fame.'

RIP Sir. Thanks for the wonderful years of entertainment.

My favorite movie of his is one that got the MST3K treatment: "The Beginning of the End."
It was about giant man eating grasshoppers that attacked Chicago, The effects were so bad that live grasshoppers were climbing postcards of buildings.
RIP, Peter. You will be missed.

Too bad. He was great as the German spy Price in Stalag 17. He's also the younger brother of James Arness. And who can forget his role as the perv captain in Airplane.

I was too young, Heck, I was born in 1975,
But I watched the reruns and older episodes with Barbara Bain and Martin Landau, who went on to do Space:1999

Harmonium Brass selected this piece as our "theme song". Imagine this - 5 guys, four of whom are well into middle age, and a young guy in his mid-20's who are trying to bring a semblance of musical normalcy to north-central Missouri.
If that ain't "Mission: Impossible" I don't know what is. :rotf:
On a serious note, Peter Graves was an excellent actor. He'll be missed.
A few more Captain Oveur quotes to little Joey, "Joey, have you ever seen a grown man naked?"
"Joey, have you ever been in a cockpit before?"
"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison before?"

Very classy indeed.
This should be in a post hall of fame.
Rest in peace Mr. Graves.

If anyone has the DVD set of Mission Impossible Season 3 then please check out the episode "Nicole" guest starring Joan Collins.

It probably was Peter Graves strongest and memorable MI performance.
