Obama Appointee Says Price Hikes by Broadband Providers 'Raise A Red Flag' for the FCC (http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/62644)
(CNSNews.com) - Rich or poor, disabled or healthy, young or old – the Obama administration says every American should have access to high-speed Internet in their own homes, even if it costs American taxpayers billions of dollars to accomplish that goal. On Wednesday, FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, an Obama appointee, frowned on recent price hikes by broadband providers, calling it an “ominous†sign at a time when the government hopes to give all Americans access to high-speed Internet in their homes.

I recently saw a poll that said that many people think internet access is a right. It was in Europe, I believe, but I fear the results would be the same here.
-
Move along now. No socialism to see here.
-
I'm sure the "right" to internet access is only for inner city dwellers. Not little ol' me, out here in BFE, paying too much for satellite because that's all there is. :censored:

The gummint will pay for your phone service (http://lifeline.gov/lifeline_Consumers.html). Nope, no slippery slope here.
So, when do I get my subsidized HDTV?

I have already gotten a flyer in the mail urging me to contact my elected officials to show my support for "high speed internet access for all". :whatever:
-
And who, pray tell, will pay for this?
YOU!

What a wonderful idea even more spending when we are broke. People do not need the internet it's fun to have and handy but, for millions of years we survived just fine without it.
Maybe Obama should just do what they are doing for health care mandate that we all buy it. :mental:

Can I get a MagicJack with my free internet service?

In a related Announcement :
"...and in order to provide Freeâ„¢ Internet to everyone - The government will be required to directly control all internet traffic to ensure that the system is Fairâ„¢ for everyone and no greedy fat cat capitalists take unfair advantage of any consumer..."
-
I too think that every adult American should have access to high-speed internet access.
Just as soon as they can pay for it themselves, just like I have to.

So true, but one added thing as well. Think about it for a moment. When you read the article you see they "frown" on the companies raising prices right... If they dont manage to legislate it in then cause another crisis via price control.
They will eventually get all that they want or all that they can get before the country literally implodes. All I know is I will keep expanding my gardens, upgrading and buying more weapons, adding to my ammo supply, adding on more solar capability and training with family and neighbors. Oh yeah adding more silver bullion and a bit of gold to the stash. Atm I have about 6 months of food packed back.
Titanic is going down folks!

What are you? Some kind of evil freedom loving capitalist who believes that the little perks in life only belong to those that work for them?

Anyone that want highspeed access can get it free right now.
Provided they go to a library and use the library computers.

Yeah... But they won't let me sit there in my underwear, smoke pot and eat cheetios while I am using theirs.
How unfair is that?
