Could/Should DU have a "jobs link" for those of us who have openings at our place of employment? (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7886066)

For example, two full-time openings with benefits have just opened up at my work. I thought it might be nice to let DUers know. Considering the job market today, it would not only help other DUers but will also continue the DU camaraderie.

What do you think?

Considering no one would respond to the job openings, I would say it's a worthless idea.

4. Sure. Cuz we want freeping lurkers to know where we work.

That will end well.

Don't mean to be negative but I see a down side to the idea.

10. You have a point

but I think the risk is small of any repercussions. It might be best not to list any small business a DUer might work for, if it seems that would be a breach of personal security.

11. I share your concern...

Perhaps some safeguards?

For example:
1) Just like the "DU Groups" forum, you have to be a contributing member?
2) Maybe have a minimum number of posts before eligible?

15. Good idea - minimum of 1000 posts

The DUmmies don't realize that the best trolls have  been there a long time with well over a thousand posts and many are donors.

Oh, come on, DUmmies, it's not like Lord Rove doesn't know enough to come by when the camps open up.

23. ...blah blah blah.... There are also plenty of new, valuable members whose posts are low but contribute good information and insight.
Many great members do not have time to post a lot, they are pounding the pavement, looking for jobs.

Oh come on!   :lmao:

18. Good idea if...
your place is actually a nice, progressive place to work. If you have two openings, but you work for Cracker Barrel, I don't think DU needs to know.

Oh, here we go again.  They turn up their noses and sniff at anything not "progressive" enough, such as Ladyhawk's free mental health counselor.
Here's a newsflash, DUmbasses:  Businesses are capitalistic.  If they run on a charity business model, they won't be in business for long.  Furthermore, they don't want to enroll into their health insurance your fly by night gay boyfriend you just met at the bar last weekend.

WTF is wrong with Cracker Barrel, dammit?  DUmmies got something against hash brown casserole?

Really, for hourly jobs, Cracker Barrel looks pretty damn good...

That is a pretty good package.  Plus, ours around here is always, always packed, so the tips are going to be halfway decent.  Only thing is, when I was a waitress, we got to eat for free.  People that work for my biz eat for free as well.  I'm going to charge them?  I don't think so, not in a million years.

Somebody please describe that hashbrown casserole.  This has come up before.   :-)

Right there is why a DUmmie would not want to work at CrackerBarrel.  They would be limited to guaranteed raises only.  That is why they love the union plan of pay raises based on length of employment.

I'm pretty sure that CrackerBarrel is on their list of "BAD" companies.  I seem to remember discussions about that in the past.

I dunno.

There are occasionally job listings in the career forum on Skins's island as it is.

However, very few primitives go there; it wouldn't surprise me if the career forum is the smallest forum there, smaller even than the bird-watchers' forum.

It's been a while since I've perused the DU groups, but I wonder what the smallest one is?  For number of posts, that is.

I never paid much attention to the actual numbers, noting only the buzz of traffic, but I suspect the career forum on Skin's island is one of the bottom five forums in usage, and even smaller than the bird-watching and deaf and hard of hearing forums.

I'll take an eye-grab the next time I take the boat over there.

That will end well.

It will end well for the place where you work since we would be warning them against hiring anti-American trash like you, something that no reputable company should have to deal with.

I found what I think is the forum with the smallest amount of posts:

Activism: Peacemaking & Community Group, 63 posts (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=399)

Last post was in January of this year.

That is amazing! DUAC! DUAC!

But the idea of a DUmp jobs board is absurd. It's like when Christ was healing the sick, the DUmmy said "Get away from me, dude! I'm on full disability!"

And as for Cracker Barrel hashbrown casserole, it may be the finest dish available at any restaurant. It's hashbrown potatoes, baked with melted cheese, and I don't know what else, maybe a little onions. The only thing that could possibly improve it would be to add crumbled bacon.

DUmp "Jobs Link"...For when your welfare status has run out, your foodstamp card has been cancelled, your disability lawyer tells you it's 'no use', you're getting thrown out of public housing, you're not old enough to draw SS and your family tells you to get lost .....there's always the Dump "Jobs Link" as a last resort.

I always thought that the 'next step' in that chain was bunking with Bobo down at the rescue mission.

Okay, this is rather a larger enterprise than I thought it would be, rating the traffic on the various forums on Skins's island.

This is just a small part.

Better than any invention dreamt up by Waffle House.

From Copycat

    *   2 lbs frozen hash browns
    * 1/2 cup margarine or butter, melted

    * 1 (10 1/4 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
    * 1 pint sour cream
    * 1/2 cup onion, peeled and chopped
    * 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
    * 1 teaspoon salt
    * 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Preheat oven to 350, spray an 11 X 14 or 13 X 9 baking dish.

Mix ingredients, pour into dish, bake for 40-45 minutes or until browned on top.

I, I mean my mole, would never recommend someone from that place for a job.  Even though I know some places, good places that are hiring. Being in the South though would probably be too low class for them to even consider.  :whatever:  It's too bad because there are bucks to be made if you have the skills, which some do.  I know a company that's hiring at all levels. Too bad so sad.

A lot of them skip from job to job like they don't have a care in the world. Most couldn't pass a drug test, some would argue against taking one.

When they realize they will have to work, can't be boss the second week or find they can't surf the DUmp during work hours, they'll quit.

Why would anyone bother ?
