It’s one thing to make a fantasy film laced with snarky jibes at the United States and its military. It’s of another order entirely for an American studio (Universal, a unit of GE) to perpetrate, during an ongoing war, such vicious anti-American lies disguised as cheap entertainment.
“Green Zone†tells US troops that all of their efforts have been based on a deliberate deception. Worse, it blames the insurgency that has killed so many of our fighting men and women on US treachery.
Matt Damon plays Miller, an Army "chief" (chief warrant officer) assigned to searching for weapons of mass destruction in Baghdad in the opening days of the war in 2003.
Despite being guilty of gross insubordination, lying to his superiors and concealing important evidence from them (a notebook containing the addresses of Saddam's top officers), Miller is the hero of the film.
Others we're supposed to cheer for include Sunni officers who shoot down helicopters carrying American soldiers sent to assassinate them. Those death squads are acting at the behest of a duplicitous Pentagon intelligence mandarin (Greg Kinnear) who has single-handedly drummed up a fake casus belli.
The Kinnear figure then lied to a gullible reporter that he had a rock-solid source, "Magellan," who had given him proof of WMDs in Iraq.
Movies like "In the Valley of Elah," "Rendition" and "Redacted" have shown US forces doing nasty things -- but none went anywhere near as far as this picture in suggesting original sin corrupted the entire Iraq war and that American officials are more blameworthy than the insurgents for the most violent years.

You know, I just had to hear, "From the makers of the Bourne Whatever...Matt Damon...The Green Zone" and I knew it was some libtard type thing.
-
Having seen the previews for this POS, I knew it would play pretty well with the NYC/Hollywood coffee klatch crowd, and pretty much like shit everywhere else.
I'm surprised even the NYC liberals hate it too. Talk about chickens coming home to roost.

Hollywood hasn't learned it's lesson yet. Anti-war and anti-American movies don't make money. We get more than enough news coverage about the actions of the few bad apples in the military, and people do not want to go see a movie that dwells on those few.

Matt Damon was on the Today show promoting this pic today. He said that they used real American troops that had just gotten back from Iraq to play the extras in the movie. I'm wondering just how those guys are going to feel after they see this .

I'm guessing DoD isn't gonna be real happy about that. The last "big" project I remember them pulling their support from after they had given it was that godawful show "Supercarrier".

I just pray that one day a U.S. soldier comes up to Matty and spits in his face; he deserves it bigtime.
Stupid putz. I piss on you Matt Damon and the studio that put out this garbage.

From the way it's being described, this one will hopefully be a flop. Too bad. I enjoyed all the Jason Bourne movies, no matter how flaky Damon is in real life. Sort of cartoonish, but lots of really well done shoot 'em up action. If this movie isn't a total flop, it will be only because of carryover popularity from the Bourne series. (Hell, I think George Clooney is one of the best actors alive, and there could hardly be a more disgusting flake, unless it's Tom Cruise.)
I didn't think Hurt Locker was anti-American, just stupid. Anyone who can believe a .50 cal. Barrett is jammed due to some blood on the brass is apparently also dumb enough to give the movie an Oscar.

My favorite scene in any movie I've seen in the past 20 years is the one in "The Perfect Storm" where Clooney is goin' down with the boat. He's looking upward through the water and you know it's just a matter of minutes......

Hollyweird just don't git it!

With the Oscar for best pic (God, what inanity), that number will likely change into the plus column.

What hurts me is reading that Greg Kinner is part of this anti-US movie.
I've always really liked him, he was Snake in We Were Soldiers.
I'm sure this movie will be a huge hit in the European countries and Middle East. Just what our guys need while they are over there fighting and dying still.
I've not even seen it yet, but I give it one finger up. :bird:

The Tomatometer doesn't mean squat. A couple of days ago I saw "Law Abiding Citizen". I thought it was an excellent action movie, and it only scored 25% on the Tomatometer. Lardass Commie Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 911", his George Bush slanderfest, scored 84%, so don't use Rotten Tomatoes as your gauge.

I don't consider RT the Magna Carta of reviews, it was just one of the first things to pop up when I searched. My local paper also gave it a bad review.

"Green Zone earned less than $5 million on Friday and less than $15m for the weekend. Pretty much a flop for any star headlined movie. :-)

I'm weeping for him. :whatever:
