Title: South Park alert -- season premiere rebroadcast at midnight, eastern time
Post by: Wretched Excess on March 12, 2008, 10:43:33 PM

CARTMAN COMES FACE TO FACE WITH HIS OWN MORTALITY IN THE SEASON 12 PREMIERE OF "SOUTH PARK" ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12 AT 10:00 P.M.* ON COMEDY CENTRAL

I saw the first broadcast, and I'm honestly not sure what to think.

I'm not sure what to think of it either. Just saw the rerun at 11 here.

just a wild guess, but putting the "how retro" comment together with the scene of grinding up piles of money to inject into kyle in order to cure him . . . .  AIDs has disappeared from the medical scene merely because billions and billions and billions of dollars were thrown at it?

I thought it was pretty good.  Not a great episode but a good one with good social commentary about the "disease du jour" culture and money being the cure for things.

There used to be this commercial with a very sad and withered looking Jimmy Carter talking about pancreatic cancer and how the cure was money.

I used to think "money isn't the cure, that's just stupid."  But in my mind's eye, instead of seeing money distilled down into a potent elixir I always saw the money just sort of floating around sick people to cure them.

It had some highly disturbing elements, like Jimmy Buffet, but I more or less stayed focused on "disease du jour"/"money is the cure" satire.

Does anyone else here watch that show "Lil' Bush"?  I think it's kinda funny.

I think they really only have one or two really good episodes per season and the rest are filler.  But the really good ones are worth the filler, IMO

Die Hippie Die
Go God Go
Cartoon Wars
The Imagination Land Trilogy

Those are some of my favorite, most memorable eps just off the top of my head.

Last night's was only okay, I get the point they were making but it wouldn't be on my Best of compilation.  Still it beats that opener with Bono from last year.

The Jimmy Buffet gag was pretty good though.
