Wow...I despise Mittens Romney even more than I realized!

He's on with Joe now, pushing his "America is the awesomest and has never done anything wrong" book. What an asshole.

3. Why would you "hate" someone for having a different opinion or worldview than your own? Isn't that the essence of America, tolerance for differing points of view? You don't have to agree with them, you can debate and try to convince them of the validity of your point of view, but why would that engender hate?

5. Pretty ironic response, given that Mitten's book is all about lack of tolerance...

...for other points of view.

I edited the sub line because I have posted before that I don't "hate" much of anyone, especially people I've never met.

That said, I don't buy into the flag-waving ang jingoism stuff that Romney pushes. Calling out Obama for being an apologist and refusing to accept the tremendous damage Bush did to our nation, and our reputation in the world. The accidents of our birth do not make us any more entitled to claim we're the "awesomest" than those of other nations who are also proud of their heritage. Blind natiolism leads to the kind of ugly arrogance we got under Bush, and all the shit that came along with it.

9. I haven't read his book, nor do I intend to, but I was responding to the "I hate romney" heading, I do agree with a lot of people but I don't hate them, they have their view I have mine. I also do not want their right to voice their opinion infringed upon, because if the government can stop them, they can stop me. But that having been said, if the KKK wanted to have a rally, I would support their right to speak even though I wholeheartedly disagree with everything they would say, but I DO NOT support the money spent for publicly funded police protection for them, just cause they have a right to speak, doesn't mean they have a right to be protected from the consequences of that speech.

Probably.

One has to remember where Pedro Picasso comes from.

One of those 1950s Levittowns down in Florida, where he grew up with his eyeballs glued to the television screen.

One suspects Pedro Picasso's never in his life read a book bigger than 50 pages, 48 of which were illustrations.

You know, I don't think Pedro Picasso's stupid or anything.

I think his brain is capable of absorbing knowledge and insight.

However, his rather, uh, priggish arrogance acts as if a steel door slamming shut in front of his face so that knowledge and insight are kept from entering his head.

Alas! poor Pedro Picasso! alas!

Too add to his misery, Pedro Picasso apparently also is afflicted with trimenthylamunia.

Alas! poor Pedro Picasso! alas!

CC27 and franksolich are always bumping into each other on Skins's island, looking at the same thing.  And so inevitably once in a while this happens, both of us posting the same thing at the same time.

It's no big deal, but one is starting to wonder if our esteemed colleague CC27 wasn't born and raised in the Sandhills of Nebraska too, or something.

You know, sir, I found it quite curious in something Pedro Picasso babbled last week, about being a "New England liberal," as if trying to gently suggest he's been there since 1627 or something.

It's true his maternal ancestress came from Old Money and Much Money in New England, but Pedro Picasso was born and raised down in Florida, and didn't move up to New England until fully grown.

Something reeks of pretension there.

Not a problem, just wanted to note the duplicate.

IIRC, CC27 is from the northern suburbs of Chicago.  Don't know about any Sandhills connection, though. :-)

It's been a few years since I was over there, but I have fond memories of the northern suburbs of Chicago, especially Evanston.

The alums of Brandeis University used to (perhaps they still do; I dunno) have an annual book-sale over there; some sort of big sale that drew people from all 50 states and most provinces of Canada.

Since they were books and not television sets, it's unlikely I could've run into Pedro Picasso without knowing it, but now I wonder if CC27 and I might have met, without knowing it.

I used to work up there a couple of blocks from the Northwestern campus.  Don't recall the book-sale.  Think CC27 was from further north, more like Vernon Hills, Libertyville or Mundelein.  Then again, it could have been Naperville way out west...it's been a while since he commented on his location, and it's not terribly important anyway.

It was great.

I dunno where Brandeis University is, other than in one of those lillupitian New England states, but apparently many of their alums settle in Chicago as medical and legal professionals.

A high-class book sale, put on by high-class people.

The women, obviously of Hebraic derivation, strikingly attractive, class and grace and elegance and style oozing out of every pore.

And none of them afflicted with bum knees or trimenthylamunia.

When you describe yourself as an artist, and the pinnacle of your creative career is a political sign with the candidate's name, in block letters, superimposed over the outline of his state, where do you go from there? Going back to crappy, unpublished cartoons might actually be a move up. It's not as if he's ever made enough money to support his family anyway. Mission control to DUmmy Pedro... over. Come in, DUmmy Pedro... over.

Calling the toaster an artist is like calling a pile of dog poo a work of art...which ironically, is what toaster's art reminds me of.

ACTIONABLE WATCH!: Day 957

Das Toaster sold out to the redneck republican NASCAR fans. One hopes that nobody paid for that 'art' project. My Labador makes better political cartoon when he pisses in the yard.

Is Pedro the one who lives in considerable inherited luxury on a lake in Connecticut?  I used to live on a lake in CT until 2 years ago; perhaps we were neighbors.  CT is one of the most elite, exclusive, intolerant places in the country.  Want to take a swim, plebians?  Too bad, this is my property, my access, so get the hell off.  Oh, I suppose we can set aside 30 feet of beach on the Danbury (poor commoners') side, so you and all the illegal immigrant trash can splash around a little there.  Mind those swim lines, though, and DO NOT CROSS.

  Hey there, Pedro, out on your Formula!!  Yeah, America sure has been shitty for you, hasn't it?

Oh I get it, a new user signs up and they are required to sniff your shorts until they have 1000+ posts least they be called a "mole". Looks to me as though you are having trouble defending your asininity here. When you post such crap, then dog-fat-face rush limbaugh and his minions copy it and use it to blast to the world how mean, stupid, intolerant, and irrelevant Democratic Underground is. Nice thing to do to the tolerant sensible REAL Progressives here and the guys that have invested their LIVES into this Progressive institution.
Me thinks it is YOU that are the mole having spent hours/days/weeks/months/years building a post count then using it to denigrate and discredit Democratic Underground to the masses.

Mitt IS a dork, no doubt about it but there are a shitload of AMERICANS that do have some pride in this nation, even with its faults. We know they are there and we (the sensible ones) use those faults to correct our course and make this nation better for the world.
When someone says this nation is awesome or "awesomest", does that really make your blood boil? If so, you are welcome to Haiti or Chile anytime.
Next time you are on a crowded bus, shout out your hate for this nation at the top of your lungs.
No, go ahead - stand up for your belief set. I dare you.
Then come on back, call me a mole, and post a recent photo of yourself - bruises, black eyes and all.
Progressives, REAL Progressives are much more talented, sensible, INTELLECTUAL, and mindful of others. We set the standards unlike you which just drag them into the gutter.
