Above freezing again, but overcast. A funny thing on facebook.

I'm a fan of ShitMyDadSays, so I should become a fan of Obama? Is there some hidden correlation there, or is Facebook trying to be funny?

Looks like a beautiful day here today.
I couldn't get out of bed yesterday because of my back. I thought I was totally screwed, even to get up to go to the bathroom took a huge amount of effort. It hurt to walk, to move my legs while I was laying in bed, to roll over...basically any movement causes my lower back to feel as though my spine had something seriously wrong with it. It didn't radiate down my legs or anything it just stayed in my lower back. Radiating from the spine outward. This was below or just at my waist, depending on what you consider your waist. Like I said in another thread I can't take ibuprofen because of an upcoming surgery so I tried Bromelain. I have some that the doctor gave me for my surgery. I was suppose to start taking it today but I started it a day early. I have taken three doses (you take two pills three times a day) so I don't know if that is what worked or not but today I can walk, sit, take a shower and wash my hair with little pain. I also did a couple castor oil packs. My God, I am turning into a hippie.
Here is some information for those of you who might be interested in the suppliment:
Bromelain due to its pain suppressant property has become an impeccable treatment for acute back pains. It not only provides instant relief to the one who is suffering but also helps the person to fight back pain in long run. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, besides back pain, bromlain is also used for treating other disorders like sprains, muscle injuries, arthritis, swelling, strains and other muscle related problems. It also brings relief for people who suffer from asthma, sinusitis, angina, tendonitis, post-surgical healing, to name a few. This is a known fact that back pain does not come alone. With pain, sometimes people also develop acute swelling and inflammation around that area. All these things aggravate to the suffering. Bromlain not only reduces pain in the back but it also brings respite in the swelling and inflammation.

Been there done that, many times. Usually it's just severe muscle spasms for me. But at times they've kept me flat on the couch for three days straight. Happens just at or below the belt line.
I've got some arthritis down there, a couple discs that are deteriorated and I cracked a piece off a vertebra years ago and never knew it until it showed up on an x-ray. Other than that, no 'real' structural problems, just the muscles locking up from time to time.
Does suck, don't it?

That pain sounds like what I had when I had a pulled muscle in the lower back. Is Bromelain by prescription only?

Try some liquid vitamin D. About 7 drops and every day for a week, then every other day at a minimum. That has almost completely cured my sciatica left over from my two previous lower back surgeries.
I need to finish the brake job I started on my truck that I started yesterday. A lack of parts availability kept me from getting it done last night. I have the parts to finish, but now it's raining and I have no garage or even a covering. Then, I had a pretty rough night, physically. The bad thing is that I found a cracked rotor on the driver's side, so I had to replace the rotors, wheel bearings and brake pads. The odd thing is that I had these brakes done at 85K or so. The brake pads were falling apart on both sides already. The floating pin in one of the brake caliper brackets was rusted in the the bracket. Shitty maintenance is what I suspect. Two of the floating pins had decent grease on them, another had just a little and then the one that was rusted in, who knows? The rubber boots seemed OK, so I'm at a loss as to why this bolt got frozen in. It was so frozen that I couldn't break it loose , turn it, or anything. I had to get a new brake caliper bracket. :( I can't imagine what this would have cost had I had a repair shop do it. It's cost me about $275 so far in parts and fluids. Thank God I have the knowledge and talent to do just about anything.

No you can get it at a health food store, vitamin shop or order it online. The one I have has Quercetin as well...what ever the heck that is. Here is a LINK (http://vitamedica.com/html/bromelain.html) to the one I have.

I already take prescription Vitamin D (50,000 IU) every other week plus calcium with vit D.

I might have to look for it, but the only store here would be at the mall which I try and avoid.

Ummm, according to my research and what I've been told, anything over 20,000 IU can be toxic. I don't mean to seem to be arguing with your Doctor, but it's all available online. That's 2½ times the maximum recommended dose. You might want to look at Vitamin D poisoning symptoms.

I was deficient in vit D a few months ago. I can't remember what my level was but I remember it was alarmingly low. My rheum. put me on 50,000 IU once a week for 6 weeks then I came back to have it rechecked. Then he told me to take 50,000 IU once every other week for two months then I come back for another check.
My doctor knows what he is doing. Google vit d deficiency and the dose of 50,000 IU. I don't have vit d poisoning.

Doctor visit scheduled in the morning. I'll find out if he wants to schedule surgery or refer me to someone else in his practice. I'm a little nervous. :p

Is this for your eye?

Yeah. I got a referral from a GP the other week so my insurance would cover it. I'm hoping I can have something scheduled by late March. My ophthalmologist works in a larger practice with other doctors that do cataract transplants -- he specializes in retinas. As long as I can get this ball rolling, I'll be happy.

Let's hope so. My regular Doctor here really screwed up. He doubled a dose of medicine for me which I was already at the upper limit. The pharmacist brought it to my attention. Then, my Doctor back in Minnesota, I thought he knew what he was doing, too. He missed some very important signs to my ataxia problem. Otherwise, this would have been fleshed out YEARS ago. Then there's the VA Doctors in MN. They, too, missed some very important signs to my condition. Needless to say, I don't have a lot of faith in Doctors right now.

my eye doctor I had when I first moved here passed me off to a retinal specialist. Not that my other eye doctor didn't know what he was doing but I really like having a doctor who specializes in certain disorders. My retinal specialist wrote a paper on uveitis and has done peer reviews on it as well. He even wrote something on my autoimmune disease (takayasu's arteritis) and eye disease.
What is the recovery for your surgery?

I had a sucky rheum once. He said I was just annorexic, I knew my disease was back. I trusted my intuition and went to my neurologist and a few days later I was in the hospital getting stents. If I had listened to that rheum I would be dead today.
I was also given the wrong prescription (very similar names) once by a pharmacy, ended up in the ER and had to have a shot in my eye. Should have sued....I'd be rich today. :p
There are great doctors out there Thor, don't write them all off. I know you must feel pretty disgusted with them right now though.

Don't know yet. I told my boss I might be out for a week.
