a religious moment in the grocery store
Edited on Sat Feb-27-10 12:56 PM by ensho
an old man with several items in his hand walked by me and the cart and his pants knocked a package off a shelf.
I said 'here, your hands are full I will pick up the package'. he said 'no, no I'll get it' which he did. and as I was walking away he said ' that was nice of you to offer, you must be a Christian.'
I said 'no I'm an atheist. Atheists are nice too you know'. and he said ' but you won't go to heaven.' and I laughed and said 'that's ok with me'.
guess I left him in shock.

1. Great story!
Maybe, just maybe, you opened his eyes to the fact that atheists are indeed nice people too...
Good for you!

2. Do ________, because it's right and good, not for a reward. This is what makes that
which is right and good also True.
Doing __________ for a reward makes rewards the primary truth, no matter HOW they are earned.
Huh?

3. You're a bad Atheist.
You were supposed to steal his wallet while pretending to help him. That money could have come in handy at the next ritual kitty and puppy sacrifice/pot luck dinner.
That's honesty, not sarcasm, folks.

6. I had a similar experience with a crazy person once....
Edited on Sat Feb-27-10 01:18 PM by PassingFair
an elderly woman in a pharmacy.
She had been dropped off at the drug store
and was supposed to have arranged to be
picked up by a "smart bus" or some such.
The bus hadn't come, and she didn't know
how she was going to get home.
She was about a half hour away from her
home and obviously disoriented. I offered
to drive her home and she spewed god talk
and why I was sent to help her (was I saved?),
how I was an
angel (was I saved?), and how she
had been blessed (was I saved?), yada, yada, yada.
Finally, when I got her home and she praised
the lord again (was I saved?), I told her that he must, indeed
work in mysterious ways, because I was an atheist (I was NOT saved!),
she said that she suspected as much, and that I
had been used in his service.
Too stoopid to think that maybe He was giving you a hint?

Why is it they act as if it is the second Spanish Inquisition whenever anyone talks about their faith?

Because they're trying to marginalise true Christianity preparatory to criminalising it. Europe is showing them the way ahead.

That and they can't stand the thought that anyone could think differently than they do. Which is why they want Rush fired and DU to allow only libs.

Yeah...I just bet that the person helped said "you must be a Christian".... :banghead:
I live in the bible belt....as someone locally referred to it the other day - the "buckle of the bible belt"....and I can't imagine anyone saying that to someone that helped them.
Maybe a "thank you and a God bless you" ....but not say "you must be a Christian".

Yep and this doesn't pass the smell test either:
I said 'here, your hands are full I will pick up the package'
No one speaks like that, unless you're a Stepford something or other.

No CPeg, it's an awful story. But your thinking it is, is one more piece of the puzzle that is your "poetry."

The CalPig hasn't passed a poem since Valentine's Day. I'm not sure how many she can hold.
Before long she's probably gonna blow up like a gas furnace.

Every time I read that tripe that she considers poetry, I am reminded of Baldrick's war poetry. Your post put me over the top, and I had to share:
