Rep. Paul Ryan
I missed the HC summit today because I had to work, but a friend (a CONservative) sent me the clip of Paul Ryan speaking. My friend said Obama looks pissed--like he was seriously pwned. I watched it, and Obama really does look pissed, but the clip I saw cut off before Obama spoke. So--please tell me, how did the president respond? Was he really pissed? If so, why? Is there any truth to Ryan's numbers? The guy sounds like a real numbers junkie. I don't know anything about him, and I'd never heard his name until just a couple of weeks ago.

1. I don't remember the exact exchange, but trust me -- the only ones who were
pwned were the Republicans. Repeatedly. It's running again on C-Span 3 now -- catch it if you can. Well worth it.

5. Paul Ryan was pwned repeatetly by both the President
and other Democrats.
Cons will see what they want; edited version of things.
It helps them cope.
The numbers the Paul Ryan were spewing were fictitious....
that was the comeback to anyone paying attention.
This was a summit, and therefore, one cannot just watch one
speaker and concluded anything, because the whole thing is exactly
about an exchange......not a one way conversation.
Oh yeah, and the President gets his own time....
he doesn't get to "share" his time with either parties....
just in case you hear the other bullshit going around;
President Obama was supposed to only listen to the whine,
and act like he isn't the President.
The smellycat is projecting.

6. May have looked that way but do you really expect an admission of that here, if true?
Will anyone lay claim to the timeforpeace mole? :evillaugh:

I haven`t heard any details about this whole event for the most part but went to that thread to see what the "numbers" were and some clear refutations of them.
Nothing..not one damn thing spelled out or cited,no links to prove anything, absolutely nothing except for them saying it isn`t true.
Such geniuses.

That seems to be the extent of their knowledge. I did see Eric Cantor with a pile of books in front of him. I assume he's at least done his homework (or a staffer).

They apparently had a copy of the Democrats bill with them and kept bringing up page numbers and actual items. Obama called it a "prop". Democrats just wanted to tell sob stories. And of course this "bi-partisan" summit gave the Democrats twice as much speaking time.

I did see that. Gateway Pundit calculated the amount of floor time on each side. The Democrats easily had a 3-1 advantage in being allowed to push their agenda.

I cannot believe how stupid the Republicans were to voluntarily serve as props in that stupid all-day infomercial for the jug-eared muslim. The dumbasses just cannot resist a live television camera, even when the only purpose of the farce was a democrat campaign ad. It's the first time I've seen a group of men where not one was any smarter than Plugs Biden.

Oh, I dunno. Rush was playing excerpts while it was going on. The only one pwned was the "Bummer"!

It was all Obama all the time. If the dumbass Republicans had stayed away, it would have been just like the "hearing" Conyers held in the basement broom closet a few years ago.

I'm watching Tweety, and it looks like (to me, anyway) the Republicans kicked major ass today

According to this thread, CNN and MSNBC are both saying the Evil Rethuglicans won the debate, but they are just part of the Reich Wing Media now. :evillaugh:

audically

For PMSNBC to be saying that the Republicans won, that's some major pwnage there.

I hear you. I was expecting the same thing but here's where I ended up changing my mind:
Healthcare was defeated already because so many Americans rejected it the statists couldn't drag enough of their own party over the cliff with them. If this charade had occurred BEFORE healthcare had already been rejected then perhaps it would have been a different story.
It was the dems that walked into the room on the defensive but because the unholy trinity of Obama, Pelosi and Reid can't tell their asses from a hole in the ground they played as if the deck was stacked in their favor. That lead to such BS as "my time doesn't count, I'm president" and showing a copy of the bill is a "prop" but a 3-page list of conditions denied coverage is OK.
A nation so awake as to rally at townhalls and tea parties won't accept that arrogance of power.
Add to this the fact that the GOP came packing genuine proposals and laid out figures while the dems had nothing but ephemeral whining. The dems were the ones that had to sell an already defeated bill. Just the same as Obama addressing the nation in previous episodes of this drama. He couldn't sell it when it was a healthy prospect. Now it's defeated and the idiots in his party were on hand to dilute whatever Svengali hold he may have held over the squishy middle.
They failed. We won.
Buck-up, little camper.

How long before the MSM starts throwing Ryan's name out as possible presidential material?
Every time a republican gets face time, the MSM goes bonkers: Palin, Brown, etc., etc.

You mean taking the bill they were all brought there to discuss, the very reason they were there, Dear Leader called that using a "prop?" What an idiot. :rotf:

You're giving yourself too much credit. You aren't smart enough to be visually, mentally, and audically challenged. You're just common Atlanta street trash.

I heard Ryan's name mentioned two weeks ago as a possible veep nominee.

TimeforPeace's comment up there doused the very small campfire.
In seeing the replay from this spectacle on this morning's news, I was disgusted at Obama's astounding arrogance. This little summit did him absolutely no good. He came off as an asshat.
-
The Democrats totally blew it.
-
I saw part of the last hour of the morning session, and about an hour of the afternoon session.
I came away with the following thoughts
I don't think the Republicans had a choice with regards to attending....if they hadn't...the Dems would have "won" just by virtue of showing up and the Reps would have looked like the obstructionists as the Dems have been portraying.
The way the Dems controlled the summit....talking as long as they wanted to...yet the Reps were interrupted by Obama thus cutting their "time" short and unable to completely make their point. It was obvious to anyone...well, anyone in touch with reality....that the whole event was partisan not bi-partisan. Which was to be expected.
Obama's body language was that of someone who was extremely bored when not irritated. When he spoke...not only to the Reps directly but also in general....it was with an attitude of "I'm way smarter than you, and you are just an insignificant speck in my universe". I thought his comment to John McCain "that we are no longer on the campaign trail, John" was rather humorous since Obama hasn't stopped campaigning in the last 13 months!
The most important point came out in the last 5 minutes of the entire time I watched...and most likely the entire day.
At the very end, Obama basically told the attendees that you get together and work on this and get it a resolution in the next 2-6 weeks...or we (the Dems) will send the bill through and the people can make their determination over who did what they should at the polls in November.
I took from that to mean ...that Obama is going to get his health care bill no matter what - as that is what he wants....screw everyone else - the people of this country, the politicians, everyone.
Obama wants to be the president who was able to get the health care that presidents have been trying to get implemented for over 50 years.
He doesn't care how it's done, what it costs, the ramifications to the country.....he doesn't care about anything other than the "honor" of being the president that gets it done.
He's too self-centered ...and too stupid....to realize that if it gets passed and the country is swallowed up in the debt of the health care program...that it will be his fault.
