I just realized something about big box pharmacies
I picked up a colonoscopy prep kit yesterday at the big box pharmacy. The entire kit consisted of two laxative tablets; a plastic jug containing a bit of salt, baking soda, and potassium chloride; and "flavoring packets" resembling Kool Aid. Total value of what I got was, in my estimation, $5 tops. My co-payment was $30. The pharmacist said the regular price was over $50.
That's when it hit me these big-box pharmacies sprouting all over the place are being entirely supported by overpriced pharmaceuticals. The aspirin, milk, cosmetics, magazines, and cheap Chinese junk filling the rest of these giant buildings are just there to make them more attractive places to buy overpriced pharmaceuticals.
Was this before or after the bong hit you realized this DUmmie?

Dear DUmmy,
Your estimation of the value is meaningless as you have no concept of production and tooling costs.
The machine that seals the box costs 10s to 100s of thousands alone probably.
Just plain idiots.

DUmmy could just take a box of X-Lax and use a milk jug and a cut up length of garden hose

Yes, well, this would be the cost of having a regulatory oversight agency to ensure the content and quality of the product. If you want to make sure the product you buy is manufactured and distributed according to rigorous standards this is the price you must pay.
Then if you want to use insurance to support the cost rather than paying out of pocket you must understand that when you present a large pool of money into any marketplace prices will rise as suppliers attempt to gain the monetary advantage over their competitors. If they were to cede the higher profits the competitior would obviously gain more money and be able to drive them from the market.
This might come as a shock to you but: the company has no motive in trying squeeze you for more than you can pay. They want as broad a customer base as their costs and market conditions will permit. It is in their interest to have you as a customer rather than turn you away.
BTW -- concerning the phrase, "cheap Chinese junk"...

But if your not paying, and the government is.... well, there is a reason govt was paying $800 for a hammer.

Hey, spinbaby, haven't you seen any of the commercials from the tort attorney whores on TV fishing for people supposedly damaged by those purgatives? I sure have, do you think maybe the overlay of costs for defending tort lawsuits might possibly have something to do with the price on that stuff, and about everything else in that store...?
:whatever:

Speaking of which, how is Yaz still on the market if up to a third of women taking it get blood clots and strokes?
Because birth control is so PC?

Funny they bitch about the "big box" pharmacies (code word for WalMart).
WalMart has 3 month supplies of many generic drugs for a flat ten bucks.
That is less than the co-pay on most insurance policies.

Blood clots and strokes are a side effect for any birth control pill, I believe. Especially if the patient is over 35 and smokes.

What can you say to stupid like that?

Easy DUmmy...Soros is a major shareholder in CVS. That's one of Lord Zero's cash cows you're disparaging there.

What can you say to stupid like that?
"I hope that you don't have any children."

It costs over $50, yet he wants the manufacturer to pay all their employees a "living wage" while only paying $5.
That pretty much sums up primitive economics.

In other words, a regular friday night for most DUmmies.
